Have not heard them specifically mentioned..but I may have missed the thread...

1. A caller pointed out that we (cardinals) fired out special teams coach...who is now the special teams coach for...the Bears.. Rounding here a little..but last year we had like the 8th rated special teams (statisically)..we are now like 25th this year... The bears? ranked somewhere in the 20's last year..now ranked like 5th. My rankings are off slightly and I have no clue how special team rankings are compiled...but the concept is that we had ok special teams last year...we fire the special teams coach...who goes to the bears..our special teams fall off a cliff...the bears goes up.
Wonder who made this call?

I would also like to point out...I thought special teams would be good after we picked up Ware (bad corner..supposed to be good special teams) and Milligan (like pro bowl special teamer..or something). Ayanbadejo is a supposed to be a special teams guy. Francisco seems good on special teams...perhaps some of the other young guys are no good...not sure...but I thought our special teams would be at least as good as last year.

2. Ron Riveria was on a national radio talk show. He expressed shock that the cardinals kept running the ball over and over with Edge. He made some comment like...the defensive guys were coming to the sidelines...shrugging...going..."I cannot believe they are still trying to run Edge"... Riveria was very politically correct and commented prior to that Edge was a great runner...

our special teams sucked last year, too. We gave up several TDs on punt and kick off returns.

Trying to feed Edge's ego? He did say he wanted the ball more, no?

People, rightly so, wanted to string up the special teams coach last year. Remember the Giants game? How about the Redskins? Need any more examples?

I think our special team problems are caused by a lack of talent on the team. Maybe we should use more starters on special teams.

ugh....I think this caller to 910 am this morning may have had an "agenda"...he casually mentioned that he "spoke" with the Cardinals old special teams coach...kevin odea....somehow this caller knew him...and then he immediately started spouting statistics....My first thought...was...gee..I did not realize how good the cardinals special teams were last year...maybe I forgot...whatever...then he started spouting rankings and statistics...

I searched the internet...and the cardinals special teams seem to have been ranked like 20th - 30th last year..depending on the criteria for ranking...I can find no ranking that has them in the top 10... Either I am missing something (possible)..or this guy was a friend of our old special teams coach and made up a bunch of b.s....

It is possible the bears improved on special teams...not sure....but I can find no evidence that the cardinals had better rankings on special team statistics last year vs. this year....

Probably the caller was another Cardinals hater who somehow knew our old special teams coach. if anyone can find any rankings that support his claim..let me know..

Kevin Odea is the bears assistant Special Teams coach. The Special Teams coach for them is Dave Toub. That caller may have conveiniently forgot to mention that.

I heard that BS this morning on the way to the airport. I couldn't believe that those two just accepted the callers info as fact.

Those guys hardly know anything about the Cardinals themselves it amazes me how little talk show guys need to know. They don't even need to watch the games or know all of the players!

Which raises the question of presnap reads.

Setting aside for a moment, the pros and cons of running Edge so much, what I'd like to know is:

1. If Leinart was aware that there were 8 or 9 guys loaded into the box, why wasn't he allowed to check to a pass play?

2. When the Cardinals lined up in a "broken I" (with the FB to the left) right before Leinar was sacked, something "didn't look right" to me. This guy (who turned out to be a DE Anderson) lined up extremely wide (like an outside LB) over on our right side but we had no one lined up over there to protect Matt from a blindside blitz. It looked as though Oliver Ross thought someone else would pick up the outside rusher so he concentrated instead on blocking the guy in front of him.

Shouldn't Leinart have noticed before the snap that things looked a bit out of whack and either (a) checked out of the play or (b) called a time out?

Anyone else wondering the same things?

It has been suggested (who knows for sure?), that Edge was supposed to come to the right and pick up the DE, but instead went to the left.

Yes I did, it looked like the initial play was a run and then Leinart audibled out of it (to pass). It looked to me like Ross didn't here the change or heard incorrectly and thought run.

I don't think that is true because Ross moved slightly forward. I'm under the impression on pass blocking the line arcs backwards to form a crescent/pocket for QB protection. It didn't happen.

So to me Ross was run blocking.
