Here are two names to watch as the college season moves towards it's end and draft season comes closer. I bring them up today as they both had really good days today. I don't think either of these guys are top 30 players, but Hopkins might be a top 50 guy. Hodgins could be a late riser...it won't shock me if he is one of top 10 WRs taken in this draft which could mean the 3rd round.

Brycen Hopkins - TE - Purdue
6'5 245lbs. Very good receiving TE who is willing to block. Good route runner who creates separation with both precision and speed. Athletic kid who will be a mismatch at the NFL level. Ideal type of TE to add in Kingsbury's system.

Isaiah Hodgins - WR - Oregon St.
6'4 209lbs. Highly recruited which was a shock to me. Turned down Michigan, Oregon, Nebraska, and Wisconsin to go to Oregon St. He sells his fakes in routes really well. I don't know about his actual deep speed, but he seems to catch the ball really well, and reminds me a bit of Deandre Hopkins. Level of competition makes me wonder what his learning curve will be, but he fits the mold of a NFL outside WR.

Nice finds Chop. Offensively, I believe this team can be built through the 2nd/3rd day drafts.

A few mid rounders were playing last night in the Memphis / SMU slugfest. Air Raid pedigrees aplenty. I want precise route runners with an Air raid background who can catch the hell outta the ball and know how to downfield block. All others need not apply.

P.S. Watch the FAU TE Harrison Bryant.

Does the FO really need to target a TE in next years draft? Maxx and Clay seem to have at least brought us out of the wasteland of Niklas and Seals-Jones.

i think a TE who is a credible blocker, but also a plus receiver can make this offense dynamic.

forces the D to declare pre snap if they want to stop the run or play coverage

Plus, Clay is only on a one year deal. Not sure if he’ll be back next season.

I'd probably stick with Maxx and look for a young receiving TE to pair with him.

Maxx might be the best TE the Cardinals have had in ages. On that Kenyan Drake TD run, he absolutely leveled the guy he was blocking.

It shows you how bad TE had been, that I get excited about a good blocker at TE. I dont think it's a stretch to say he has been the best blocking TE I have seen the Cardinals have since Is started watching in 94.

Keep in mind that Hakeem Butler might cause the team to avoid mid round WRs. He profiles very similar to Mike Evans.

If we don’t go CeeDee in round 1, we should go Tyler Johnson out of Minnesota in round 2.

just to make this a de-facto draft thread:

two defensive players I am keeping an eye on:

Grant Delpit, Safety, LSU. 6-3, 205. 4.5 40 time. A rangy safety with great size to control the middle of the field.

Isiah Simmons, LB/S 6-3, 225 4.5-ish. The DWash replacement Keim has been looking for -- except this guy has played the position in college and at a high level. sideline to sideline, can cover, blitz, play the run.

both are currently projected in the teens in the first round.....

These are two players who have to be kept on the radar based upon where we draft, but aren't really priority positions IMO.

If I wanted to build a top 15 (not in order, but just or 1st round prospects to consider), it probably goes something like this...

1-Jerry Jeudy - WR
2-CeeDee Lamb - WR
3-Andrew Thomas - OT
4-Tristan Wirfs - OT
5-Tyler Biadasz - C
6-Chase Young - OLB/DE
7-AJ Epenesa - DE/DT
8-Derrick Brown - DE/DT
9-Javon Kinlaw - DE/DT
10-Isaiah Simmons - ILB
11-Grant Delpit - S
12-Jeffery Okudah - CB
13-Trevon Diggs - CB
14-Alex Leatherwood - OG ???
15-Creed Humphrey - OG ???

...and that is probably all I can come up with. Even with some of those guys, the better option may be trading back. The one area that I keep flip-flopping on is prioritizing WR over OL and DL. It isn't because I don't see the need, but it is more about setting up this team for success moving forward. I worry about Murray's mobility masking a bit of our deficiency up front. I do believe we need to move past our offensive line being "good enough" while Kyler is developing.

I will add that if I was personally building stay and pick list, it probably looks like this.

1-Jerry Jeudy - WR
2-CeeDee Lamb - WR
3-Andrew Thomas - OT
4-Tristan Wirffs - OT
5-Tyler Biadsz - C
6-Alex Leatherwood - OG
7-Creed Humphrey - OG
8-Derrick Brown - DE/DT
9-Javon Kinlaw - DE/DT
10-AJ Epenesa - DE/DT
11-Chase Young - OLB

12-Isaiah Simmons - ILB (the only reason I add him in here is that we have a hole at this spot, and he might have the size and speed to deal with TEs, RBs, and mobile QBs. If you think he is a 3rd down difference maker, he can be worth this spot)

I'd argue players like Isaiah Simmons are almost as important in the modern NFL as pass rushers. Just look at how much offensive success teams have had against the Cardinals since they are so bad at having a 3rd down middle coverage guy.

I'd still place WR as a bigger need, bigger issue because they directly enhance QB success, but I would maybe drop pass rusher a little lower because of the presence of Chandler Jones.

I’d lose my mind if we draft Grant Delpit.

I'm looking forward to watching Delpit against Alabama on Saturday.
