The Los Angeles Lakers made the biggest trade anyone can remember happening in NBA history when they sent Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round draft pick to the Dallas Mavericks for generational superstar Luka Doncic on Feb. 1.

Assuming Doncic stays with the Lakers (he can opt out of his contract in the summer of 2026) and LeBron James sticks around a little longer, the team will have two of basketball's biggest superstars for the foreseeable future. However, James is nearing the end of his career, and it is time for the franchise to start planning how to find Doncic another second superstar once James leaves.

According to one Bleacher Report writer, it could try to land that additional superstar as soon as this summer.

Eric Pincus predicted the players that will be each NBA team's biggest trade targets this summer, and he listed Milwaukee Bucks living legend Giannis Antetokounmpo as the Lakers' biggest trade target.

Via Bleacher Report:

"The Lakers already landed a dream target in Luka Dončić, but the franchise is greedy," Pincus wrote. "If Antetokounmpo demands out, a combination of salaries, talent and picks could get him to Los Angeles. It's a stretch, but it'd be remiss to leave him out if this is a team's wish list."

It is very difficult to imagine Antetokounmpo in a Lakers uniform, or, for that matter, any uniform other than a Bucks one. He won't be able to opt out of his contract until the 2027 offseason, and in the meantime, his team is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

But then again, people felt Doncic would never become a Laker, even when there was a report several months ago that the franchise was targeting him as its next great player. Indeed, throughout their history, the Purple and Gold have often landed their transcendent players somewhat unexpectedly.
