Whispers are picking up steam that Sports Illustrated is ready to go to print with Universty of Tennessee and Phil Fullmer illegal recruiting . Said to be big enough to cost Phil his job and a whole bunch of recruits. Anyone got the skinny on this?

The article is about street agents in general and Tenn in particular.

I know Alabama would love that. Haven't heard anything here in Nashville on it though.

There has been some talk in the past about a big gambler from Memphis involved
in past scuffles between Alabama and Tennessee on recruiting. This guy has been indicted.

This latest episode is about Miami street agent/bird dogs pushing players to Knoxville. This is the guy who was involved in the Bobby Washington episode, when Miami turned him down over the SAT/ACT scores issue. The agent wanted him at N C State ( Coach Amato will pay ) all along because Miami wouldn't pay. Same guy steered players to Saban at LSU for bux.

Where's BRV?

I'm right here

Sorry, but all the talk round here lately has been about college basketball, so I've been avoiding it like the plague. Next time Vol nation comes up, somebody send PM :D

I read most of the replies people wrote on that msg board. I agree with most of them. Most think it's a bogus story. It is not anywhere else in the news. Trust me, ESPN HATES Tennessee, why?? Cause we hate them lol. They would be THE FIRST to report such a story. Why isn't it on SportsCenter?? Or CBS Sportsline, or Fox Sports?? The article was generated in some Florida sun sentinal website or somewhere. HHHMMM??? Florida??? That explains everything!!!

UF cant stand us being at the top of the East, and reporters will find any way to stir up crap to put a damper on the program. Miami don't like us too much either cause we OWN them, and should you ask about FSU??? Look at my sig below!!!

If you click that link, you will find this and more.........

National Title Contenders
Teams going into 2005 with an honest shot at the national title

1. USC 2004 Record: 13-0 Pac 10
USC is going to be everyone’s preseason number one yet again led by the 1-2 running back punch of Reggie Bush and LenDale White behind a big-time offensive line. The receiving corps will be flat out frightening with Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett each ready for the NFL now. Oh yeah, and the Heisman Trophy winner/number one pick in the draft is back for another year. On the down side, there are huge losses on defense especially at tackle and linebacker.
Biggest offensive loss: G John Drake Biggest defensive loss: DTs Shaun Cody and Mike Patterson

2. Tennessee 2004 Record: 10-3 SEC
The Vols will be back among the elite of the elite as long as the defense can take a little overall step up in production. The offense will be a juggernaut with what many consider to be Tennessee’s most talented receiving corps ever (which is obviously saying a ton for this program). RB Gerald Riggs Jr. and QBs Erik Ainge and Brent Schaeffer are ready to be big-time college football household names. The defense will lose star linebacker Kevin Burnett, but there’s more than enough talent to come up with a killer D helped by the return of CB Jason Allen.
Biggest offensive loss: RB Cedric Houston Biggest defensive loss: LB Kevin Burnett

10. Oklahoma 2004 Record: 12-1 Big XII
Everyone will spend the next eight months badmouthing Oklahoma after the dismal performance in the Orange Bowl. That’s not fair considering how great this program has been under Bob Stoops as another Big XII title will be more than enough to make 2005 successful. However, this might not be the team to do it losing three stars off the offensive line, Mark Clayton and Brandon Jones from the receiving corps, and QB Jason White. The attack will focus around Adrian Peterson while the D should be fine after a little bit of time. However, the defense still has to prove it can be a killer without Mike Stoops.
Biggest offensive loss: QB Jason White Biggest defensive loss: DE Dan Cody

11. Arizona State 2004 Record: 9-3 Pac 10
There’s talk of this being the best Arizona State team ever with ten starters back on offense from the Sun Bowl winning team led by newfound star QB Sam Keller and All-America caliber WR Derek Hagan. The defense will have a few issues, but it should still be solid especially on the line. Can Dirk Koetter’s program handle the pressure of high expectations? It couldn't do it two years ago and an early game at LSU could take the excitement away. By the way, USC comes to Tempe October 1st.
Biggest offensive loss: QB Andrew Walter Biggest defensive loss: S Riccardo Stewart

And last, but not least, the Vols lead the nation in new recruits....if there really was truth behind the recruiting RUMOR generated in FLORIDA, don't ya think most of these recruits would haul arse to some other program??

A former high school coach told a federal jury Wednesday that he received offers of money, a job and free law school for his wife before he accepted a $150,000 payoff to steer his best player to sign with Alabama.

In testimony Tuesday in U.S. District Court, Lang said coaches at two other Southeastern Conference schools, Kentucky and Georgia, gave him money. He also testified that Tennessee, Mississippi, Michigan State and Arkansas offered money for Means but never paid.

This is more widespread than the SEC, my friend, this is nationwide!!!

BTW, why else would a kid want to go to BAMA unless they were paid :p

SEC schools get the best Florida High School players money can buy. :D

Of course SI would release the story at this time. Attracts attention, has biggest impact and sells magazines. National LOI day is about the only time anyone pays attention.

3 schools seem to get the top recruiting classes every year and never sniff the MNC. Guess who, I have in mind. Don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings. ;)

Just checked out the commit board for Tennessee.
One Florida player, CB from Miami, FL

P.S. Demetrius Mobley, the CB recruit from Florida, has dropped out of High School, is attempting to go to the infamous make believe high school diploma mill , run by the street agent who is steering him to Tennessee, and as of now is academically ineligible. He is going the JUCO route to attempt to qualify in 2 years.

SAN ANTONIO --- There was a time when Dee Morley saw things through orange and blue glasses. After Florida's Rising Senior Camp back in July, Morley, the 6-1, 185-pound corner from Miami Killian, Morley was a Florida commitment who was talking on the phone to help recruit others to come spend the next four years in Gainesville.
