The Seattle Seahawks made one of their biggest moves of the offseason by signing former Eastern Washington standout Cooper Kupp to a three-year deal, worth $45 million. It was a move to bring a Washington State football legend back home, and it was met with near-universal approval from the 12th Man. Kupp himself shared an edited image of him wearing a Seahawks uniform on his Twitter account, and I gotta say, the white and navy looks pretty good on him!
As you can obviously see in the edit, Kupp is wearing his classic No. 10 jersey - the number he wore at Eastern Washington, and has worn with the LA Rams since the 2020 season. There is just one problem, however... as No. 10 is currently in use on this Seahawks roster, worn by pass rush specialist Uchenna Nwosu.
Naturally, Nwosu is going to be fielding questions about a potential jersey switch, and he received one almost immediately during his recent Twitch stream. Nwosu was clearly asked by a fan watching his stream about his jersey number, and Nwosu responded immediately, right around the 8:50 minute mark:
However, it was in a playful tone. Later on in the stream, Nwosu clarified his earlier comments at the 43:53 minute mark:
It obviously remains to be seen if any jersey swapping will happen. Perhaps Kupp will make some kind of deal with Nwosu for No. 10, or maybe Nwosu will simply give the jersey to him like he suggested. Knowing how much of a class act Kupp is, I wouldn't be surprised if he "paid" for the jersey by donating to a charity of Nwosu's choosing, which is what happens sometimes in these situations.
Of course, there is always the possibility Kupp might want to go down a different path when it comes to his jersey number. He started his career in the NFL wearing No. 18, and when he played at AC Davis High School in Yakima he wore No. 1. But if he wants either number, he will face a similar situation. Linebacker Josh Ross has No. 18, and wide receiver Jaelon Darden has No. 1.
I suspect more concrete jersey news will come out sooner rather than later, as I'm sure the Seahawks will want to get Cooper Kupp jerseys on sale as fast as possible.

"If Cooper Kupp really wants the number, brah, I'll give it up to him! I don't want no bad blood with no teammates, man. I ain't trying to take away his legacy!"
