UCLA gets another commit- PG Jerime Anderson

Kind of a surprise since nobody had indicated they were going to decide now, but still a good get. There are 4 PG's in LA currently juniors who are considered great prospects and Anderson is one of the 4, he also happens to be good friends with junior SG stud Jrue Holliday(on the same AAU team).

The other 3 are Larry Drew Jr(son of ex NBA guard), Malcolm Lee, and Brandon Jennings. UCLA stopped recruiting Jennings a while ago over grades, he appears to be headed to UCONN although UA and USC are still in there. UNC appears to lead for Drew now, and Lee is still apparently on UCLA's radar as he's a combo guard and if they can't get Holliday, they'd probably take Lee.

Yeah, the 2008 PG class is loaded especially out west. Jennings keeps saying he's interested in Arizona but they're barely recruiting him anymore as he's essentially a UConn lock due to his relationship with Marcus Williams (not Arizona MW, laptop stealing MW) and his transfer to Oak Hill. Many people are saying Anderson to UCLA means Jrue Holiday ends up there also but there are rumors that Holiday's Dad is trying a power play to get his other son Justin (who's a marginal prospect) a scholarship along with Jrue who's a one-and-done Top 5 future NBA player. ASU, USC, and Washington have both offered Justin in hopes of landing Jrue, but UCLA and Arizona aren't big on package deals and have bigger fish to fry in the 2007 class and do not want four years of Justin for one year of Jrue. Time wil tell how this one turns out, but there are going to be quite a few pissed off fanbases once it is done.

Someone on BRO is saying UCLA is recruiting both Lee and Holliday(Jrue) saying they want 3 guards in the 2008 class. Makes me wonder if they think soemone like Roll is going to transfer because he gets beaten out by Russell Westbrook? That's been the rumor at least Roll is in much better shape this year but head to head people say Westbrook is clearly the better player and unless Roll sees time at SF he's going to lose minutes to Westbrook who's apparently not ready to play backup PG but quite ready to play backup SG.

I don't know if UA is in on Drew at all I know UNC and UW are, recent reports had suggested UCLA preferred Drew to Anderson but I guess that changed.

Reports on Anderson are all over the board from Farmar clone to a guy who's going to be in over his head. I know the guy who runs Hoopscoop trashed him a few months ago said he was a marginal D1 prospect that West Coast recruiting gurus were giving way too much hype to. So far Howland seems to be pretty good at judging prospects so I'm assuming he's right about Jerime too.
