Apparently reinjured the plantar fascia that he tore and had surgery on earlier this year. They're saying MRI soon out indefinitely but conceivably the whole year.

Not sure what they do he's really the only backup guard when Shipp is playing the 3 so my guess is either Stanback or Dragovic see a few minutes or they just play Westbrook and Collison even more minutes which is scary. Roll wasn't playing well at all coming off the injury but he's a critical backup player because UCLA is so thin at guard this year.

They could conceivably burn the redshirt year for Keefe now and make Shipp in a 3 guard rotation but I don't see that happening.

Just can't seem to stay healthy, they just announced they had their first full practice at full strength with Mata returning today, and now Roll gets hurt again.

Roll out a minimum of 3 weeks, Keefe will not redshirt now.

Feel for the kid. When he's about ready to come back, I hope he gets mumps, followed by amoebic dysentery.

No permanent damage. Just short term miseries lasting until about April.

My personal feeling is his doctor, not sure if it's UCLA or a private doctor, has totally mishandled it. Roll had plantar fascitis over the summer, they apparently gave him cortisone via shot in the foot, he was cleared to practice and then ruptured the tendon before the season started. Rest, rehab, back into games and then wham, it ruptures again. Now we're being told he was advised by doctors that was possible if he came back to soon.

So who the hell let him come back?

Hurts UCLA(not last night) but I hate to see kids get mishandled they should sit him the rest of the year and let the thing heal.

Russ, maybe a very valid point about the doctor. Lots of athletes in many sports seem to get burned by poor medical diagnoses and advice.

That may be why so many pro athletes gravitate to the few specialists who can be trusted, like that sports medicine guy in Alabama. Can't think of his name right now.

College kids don't have the resources to be able to do that.
