Will make roughly 2 million this year, deal runs through 2014-15 and he'll be paid 2.3 million in the last year of the deal which will presumably be renegotiated long before then based on his success so far.

Great news although I realize it's no guarantee Howland won't get tempted by an NBA team someday.

This might cause some unrest in the lockerroom. Some of the stars are making a little less than the coach now.

:)

Well played.

I'm guessing that's why Mayo punched Hackett in the first place last summer Hackett told him how many Lira he was getting paid to play at SC and Mayo didn't do the exchange rate and thought Hackett was getting more money than him and broke his jaw.

Hopefully nobody hits howland in the jaw.

I hope Howland develops bad hemorrhoids.

Then, he should treat them the way Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte did, during the battle of Waterloo. Napoleon was suffering so much from his hemmorhoids that he would sit at night in a bath of mercury, under the advice of his doctors.

He made several critical errors during the battle. The French lost. Napoleon's reign ended.

Ah, one can only hope.

Are you still upset that ASU's old AD rejected advice to hire Howland instead of Rob Evans, because ASU deserved a "big-time" coach??

Jon, I just enjoy hating UCLA hoops.

As far as the former ASU AD supposedly ignoring hiring Howland, two things:

I never heard of that before and if true, it matters not. The past is not anything I worry much about in sports.

It would surprise me very much if Howland had any real interest in this job at that time. Why leave Pitt, where he had a good team in a competitive conference with big markets, for a basketball backwater like ASU?

With success at NAU and Pitt, Howland was on a fast track to a traditional bball power school somewhere.

UCLA plays Notre Dame this coming season so you'll get a chance to hate them against your favorite team. Should be an interesting matchup UCLA is going to be pretty young this year it's quite probable that 4 of the 5 freshmen will be in the regular rotation, in fact all 5 might be.

At the time, Howland was still at NAU - hence ASU's scorning of him.

I didn't know she coached there and thinking of it, should have made the connection.

Both Howland and Charli teach stifling team defense and stunt the offensive games and development of their players. Neither will ever win a title, in spite of having superior talent and deep benches.
