The UConn women's basketball team is the No. 2 seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament's Spokane Region 4. The Huskies (31-3) host 15th-seeded Arkansas State in the first round at a to-be-announced time Saturday at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.

The Red Wolves (21-10) won the Sun Belt Tournament to clinch their first-ever March Madness ticket, earning the mid-major conference's automatic bid with an 86-79 win in overtime against James Madison this past Monday.

Meanwhile, UConn's 70-50 win over Creighton in the championship game of the Big East Tournament this past Monday was the Huskies' 10th straight victory and 23rd conference title.

"That's the challenge of the teams you play in the NCAA Tournament -- a lot of teams you've played against already, a lot of teams you have a lot of film on already, but you get teams that are really good that win their league and they're really talented," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said Sunday evening.

The UConn-Arkansas State winner advances to the second round against the victor of the 7-10 matchup between Oklahoma State and South Dakota State. The seventh-seeded Cowboys (25-6) and 10th-seeded Jackrabbits (29-3) also play Saturday at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.

USC is the region's top seed. The then-No. 4 Huskies suffered a 72-70 loss to the then-No. 7 Trojans, who enter the Big Dance at 28-3, Dec. 21.

"You could say, 'I wish we didn't have USC out there in the way to possibly going to the Final Four,'" Auriemma said. "... No matter who you end up playing, it's going to be a pain in the ass. That's all there is to it. You just hope to be in that game."
