Deron Winn made his UFC debut in the curtain jerker of UFC Fight Night 154. The 30-year-old defeated Eric Spicely by unanimous decision in that bout. Spicely accepted the fight on less than one weeks' notice. Spicely replaced Bruno Silva. The day after Winn's victory, Darren Stewart said he was close to stepping in to face Winn, but that he had just fought the week before and was still recovering from that bout. Stewart defeated Bevon Lewis in that matchup. Winn said he wanted to make the fight happen.
