Jeff Hornacek may make a good Head Coach for a veteran team, but is not the one to take this team to that level. No 1st-time Head Coach would be.

There isn't a coach on the planet that would be capable of taking this collection to the promised land. I have no idea if Jeff is the right guy. I don't know how anyone could confidently say he is or isn't at this point.

Jeff's style is similar to what mine was -- push gently from behind, rather than tug them by the nose. I recognized that my managerial skill was not as a start-up but as a maintainer and motivator. Keep them going and push them to greater heights.

Despite a good first year, I see the same trait in Jeff except, from what I've seen, he is a maintainer but has not excelled as a motivator. I saw the same in John MacLeod, despite his rigidity. Cotton Fitzsimmons would have been the right man for these times.
