Boris Johnson has told a Downing Street press conference that the UK has a “chance” to ride out the wave of Omicron infections without needing a further lockdown. The Prime Minister spoke out as it was revealed another 218,724 daily Covid-19 cases have been reported in the UK. It comes as World Health Organisation (WHO) official said more evidence is emerging that the Omicron Covid variant causes milder symptoms than previous strains.
