Im sorry but that might have been the worst two back to back plays at the end of a game in college basketball history.

Fogg just committed the same ******** foul and UAB shot a 1 and 1. Can you really forget a huge mistake like that so quickly?

I have a feeling this is the way the rest of the season is going to go. That isnt a bad loss, because UAB is a good team, but it sure is going to hurt come March.

Why are you surprised? Any rational person could tell you this team was going to suck this season (I hereby change my vote from Arizona finishing fifth and drop them back to sixth with Wazzu taking their #4 spot) while we suck even worse in 2009 as we rebuild. I'm just glad we won't have to see the brain-dead freak athletes that Lute and Pastner grew so fond of suiting up for UA anymore. Jamelle Horne's blunder is merely of sympton of that type of recruiting that overtook the program not to mention a career assistant and former radio host being the head coach.

UAB is okay, nothing spectacular. A bubble NCAA team probably when all is said and done.

My advice is looking at this season like we did every Cardinals in 2006, 2003, and 2000 and the Suns that one season they made the Marbury trade. Like we UA fans did the year we fired Mackovic or like ASU fan did after Oregon demolished ASU at SDS effectively ending the Koetter era. Spend your Thursday and Saturdays hanging out with your family, or getting things done around the house, or seeing a movie here and reading a book there and hope we win a couple small battles and some dignity.

Because the reality is the program is playing out the string. The players, coaches, and atheltic department as a whole are all focusing what they're going to be doing next season. Time for us fans to do the same.

I am up and getting ready for work on about four and a half hours of sleep. I was just stunned at how the game ended. You would think Horne would of learned the score after Fogg made that foul. You can't put all the blame on him, the coaching staff needs to take responsibility. I don't know if they made the players aware of the score coming out of that timeout, but they should of been reminded by any of the four coaches.

When a team makes 13 three pointers and you almost beat them, I was encouraged by the way the Cats did not give up. Besides the Big 3, I think Judkins and Fogg will become good players, they have talent. The key will be Horne and Fendi. They have to show up and play tough on both sides of the ball.

I am not giving up on this team, they have enough talent to be competitive in the weak Pac-10. Moreover, Hill is going to have a huge year.

I only saw the beginning of the game, but I was very surprised at all the fans dressed up like empty seats.

I understand your perspective, Mao, but I don't know if I could ever be that way. I can't treat my college team like I do any professional team I root for.
While ADs throw money at coaches and coaches influence recruits to sign, fans show both why their school is the only place to play.

Who wasn't surprised by THAT? I tried to remember seeing someone intentionally foul in that situation even once and couldn't think of it. To see it happen twice..... wow. No one would write that into a movie script it was so unbelievable.

Yeah that was really weird as said you can see maybe once but twice was just bizarro.

I remember in a tournament when I was in HS we were watching a game and a kid got a steal with his team down one point, he apparently thought they were up one point and instead of taking the layup he dribbled out into the corner waiting to be fouled. His teammate finally stole the ball from him, they lost that game because of that. That's about the only time I can recall a similarly bizarro play to what happened to UA last night.

With about 20 seconds to go, UofA tied the game with a free throw. When UAB inbounded the ball, a freshman (who I felt bad for) intentionally fouled. But, UAB missed the 1-and-1, so it was still tied. UofA timeout. UofA missed a shot with maybe 5 seconds left and a UAB player got the ball and started to dribble up court. Another UofA player CHASED him for about 25ft and fouled him right around half court with one second left. Thus, it was called an intentional foul. So not only did UAB get free throws, they got to inbounds the ball too. They made one. The inbounds pass almost went out of bounds but a UAB player saved it back into the court. Game over.

I saw that twice in HS. My soph year a freshman on our team grabbed a defensive rebound and shot it in. The coach was so mad he yelled at another freshman to get in there for Johnson, so in the middle of play, the other freshman ran out on the court and told Johnson to get out. So we not only scored for the other team, we got a T for having 6 on the court?

I saw a senior in HS take a shot at the wrong basket, but he missed, that was my junior year, pretty surprising.

YOu can understand Fogg being confused I guess but Horne was ridiculous, they had to know by then not to foul.

Obviously the situation itself was surprising, but low IQ plays and poor crunchtime execution by UofA players are all too familiar to people who have followed the program for the last few years.

In what was one if the biggest sports blunders made in quite some time, the Arizona Wildcats gave away the game and the opportunity to advance to Madison Square Garden on not one, but two intentional fouls. Arizona’s Jamelle Horne, a freshman, intentionally fouled Paul Delaney with one second left as the game was tied 71-71.

What made the mistake more embarrassing was that Kyle Fogg had just committed the exact same offense on the play before, not realizing the game was tied at 71, he fouled UAB’s Aaron Johnson to send him to the line with 25 seconds remaining in the game.

Arizona survived the first blunder when Aaron Johnson missed the first shot of the 1 and 1 opportunity but weren’t so lucky on Horne’s intentional foul. Delaney made his first free-throw, and U of A lost to the Blazers 72-71.
