The day is finally here. For the first time in program history, the North Carolina Tar Heels will play in the First Four as an 11 seed, taking on San Diego State. No. 6 Ole Miss awaits the winner of this game in Milwaukee on Friday and the loser heads home.
For North Carolina, they have faced a lot of criticism over the past few days with many on social media and in the media are saying they are not deserving. But tonight, UNC has the chance to prove everyone wrong.

Let's start straight off with Magoon Gwath; he has been a hot topic since news broke that he would return from injury against UNC. For the entire season, the Tar Heels have struggled against strong interior post presences, and this could be no different. Gwath is 7-foot-0 and was averaging 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game this season. He could end up being the x-factor.
North Carolina is going to need to shoot well from the perimeter, not above excellence, but at least 35%. The other major piece of SDSU's defense is the ability they have to turn the ball over. The Tar Heels are going to have to protect the ball if they hope to pull off the win. With the rising spread of UNC from the opening odds, I'm going to transition my stance to SDSU's spread and the under.
Prediction: North Carolina 68, San Diego State 64
