Apr. 14—GRAND FORKS — UND is starting its search for Dane Jackson's top assistant coach.
The school posted its associate head men's hockey coach position Monday. The job posting closes in a week at 11:55 p.m. April 21.
It is the last open position on Jackson's staff.
Jackson was hired late last month as UND's 17th men's hockey coach.
The projected salary is listed at $185,100 to $222,100.
Last week, Jackson hired
Bryn Chyzyk to serve as the team's general manager
and lead UND's recruiting, transfer portal management and roster management.
Jackson also confirmed
he will retain Dillon Simpson
as an assistant. Simpson was hired by former coach Brad Berry two years ago.
College hockey teams are allowed to have four full-time coaches.
Chyzyk is designated as one, so he's allowed to recruit off campus.
The job posting requires candidates to have a combination of seven years of experience coaching college or junior hockey and/or playing at the pro level.
The posting
opens the door for a wide array of candidates.
UND's human resource department will screen the candidates after the deadline, then deliver the applicants to athletic director Bill Chaves and Jackson.
Then, interviews will begin.
Jackson said in an interview with the Herald earlier this month that he wanted to expedite the general manager position, but he'd take more time on the associate head coach.
Several candidates still could be coaching their teams. Junior hockey playoffs are going on in the U.S. and Canada.
College hockey concluded Saturday night with Western Michigan beating Boston University to win the NCAA national championship.
