I just took a look at the rest of our season. Wow! We are in a lot of trouble. Honestly, I'd make us an underdog in all but 3 or 4 of the remaining games and that's with a healthy Nash. Steve will probably find a way to steal us a few extra wins but I'd be surprised if we won more than seven games to close out this season. I'm not sure how Management and the team can still think they have a shot at the playoffs. We failed during the easy stretch of our season and it's about to catch up with us.

The Suns are on a three game win streak so I think, in their mind, they are on target. IMO, it is important for the Suns to lose big time before the trading deadline if any significant trades are to be made.

Anyone know what happens if Brooks returns to the NBA before the season is over?

Can the Suns still trade him before the trading deadline or if he decides not to play in the NBA this season, does he become a FA after the season. I think some teams may be seriously interested in him. Still hoping the Suns can get a first round pick out of him. I wonder if the Suns can do a sign and trade.

Most pertinent players from China have already returned.

Yeah, I'm not broken hearted about it. I'm just a bit depressed that reality won't slam them in the face until after it's probably too late to do us much good.

Steve

that is bad.

We'll find a way to finish as the best team not to make the playoffs. Hello pick #14!

I know that's frustration talking but take a look at our schedule. If this team can finish just out of the playoffs I'd have no problem with them adding one more player for another run next year. IMO, they would have to be one of the 3 or 4 best teams in the league to reach that 14th spot. I think a really good team would struggle to play .500 ball against our remaining schedule. Between back-to-back-to-backs and back-to-backs and road games and quality of opponents this is one hellacious stretch.

Here is a link to the Suns remaining schedule for perusal. Of special interest is the Suns play 4 games at home and 1 road game at the Thunder before the March 15th trading deadline. I don't know if wins or losses during this stretch will effect the Suns decision making before the deadline but it may add some tension.

Wed 7 @ Thunder

Thu 8 vs Mavericks

Sat 10 vs Grizzlies

Mon 12 vs Timberwolves

Wed 14 vs Jazz

You're not taking into account the teams that we'll be playing that will be on back-to-backs of their own.

You're right, I didn't look that far into it. However, with Nash and Hill I'm not sure there is another team that is as vulnerable in the back to back situations as we are. The scary part though is the opponent strength. Our best chances at wins come in home games against Detroit and New Orleans plus road games at Cleveland and Sacramento. Beyond that, the only sub .500 opponents left are 2 road and 1 home against an 18-19 Utah team.

You might beat the mavericks if jason terry doesn't stop acting like russell westbrook in the 4th quarter of games.

Well, we've now gone 2 -1 against this killer schedule. I expected 0-3 or 1-2 at best.

With Rubio out for the season, Minnesota will surely plummet down the standings.

That leaves Phoenix, Portland, Houston, Dallas and Utah in the battle for the 8th spot. I don't think Denver will drop out, but they won't be great in the playoffs either.

Portland can't find their rythm, Dallas looks nothing like last year (plus Odom sucks), Houston has nothing spectacular on their team, Utah just started rebuilding and finding their new game, and Phoenix relies on old men. Anything could happen. Altough, right now, I'd say the final standings would be:

7th- Dallas
8th- Portland
9th- Houston
10th- Phoenix
11th- Utah

We have now gone 4 - 2 against this killer schedule. I'm not sure how they are doing this. I'm still convinced we'd be better off with a good draft pick. I still find the likelihood of a playoff spot this season to be almost laughably absurd. And yet, the Suns fan in me can't help cheering these guys on each night.

Tough to act like anything when you're sitting on the bench.
exactly and that's why he was on the bench because he keeps turning the ball over late in games and tries to play hero when they already have one in dirk. ironically roddy b took dirk's shot too when he took terry's place. and both kidd and carlisle called him out for it. terry is starting to change his tune this year now that the mavericks have opted to not give him a contract extension. I think it is bothering him mentally based on his comments in the press and also based on his play on the court. he looks shaky out there. I honestly think he will be somewhere else next year.
