Looks like Tommy Kelly is a Cardinal.

Too bad BLOK isn't here, LOL.

According to Kelly, "that boy too scared" to be here.

Good signing. Love this regime's attention to detail and urgency

Rumblings supposively say he's looked good enough to play but Patriots cut him for unknown reason. That being said, I can't find confirmation anywhere on the interwebz, just Twitter.

Pats fans are all saying he looked good in preseason games.... was huge for them last season as well (juza76 beat me too this).

Can you link to some of the forums posts about it?

This is a great signing after losing Dockett. To get a player like Kelly this late in the preseason is huge. He will add to the depth of our DL.

A player does not have to be all used up for the Pat's to part with him , some of the notable players were DB's Lawyer Malloy and Ty Law and Kicker Adam Vineteria (spl) , all of these guys still had plays left in the tank . Kelly may turn out to be a good pick up for our Cards .

I believe Dockett is a big fan if Kelly as well. Pretty amazing to see BASK never stop working and constant confirmation that we have become a destination franchise

Nice move. Not having Graves as a GM sure is nice.

I don't think this can be said enough. Just two years ago we would have just rolled with some undrafted free agent no one ever heard of and prop him up by saying he has moxie.

My cynical side sees the added benefit of the signing to be an early guage of how well a 30+ year old, 300+ lbs DL can recover from ACL surgery.

Great signing. Very stout against the run and can pass rush real well for a big guy. Like I said before, he was the Pats best interior DL last year before his injury. He looks like he rehabbed well, came to camp in great shape and IMO looked real good in pre-season. I have no idea why BB cut him but IBBIT. I think the Cards will be very happy with him.

True, but...

you forgot about gumption. Ned a lot of gumption for D-line play...

/BASK on the case!

Nice signing. I echo the other sentiments in this thread, I like the new front office and how they deal.

If healthy he could be another great signing for the Cards. I like it :)

Harrison, not so much. Looks like they are kind of desperate regarding the LB corps they have. Not so good.

I see you guys mentioning he played well so far in preseason. How well? What was his stats? Was he playing with the 1s or 2s?

I'm not seeing stats for him in NE's pre-season games... he had a fumble recovery, no recorded tackles or sacks or anything else. I didn't watch their games so I have no idea how well he played. Patriots fans were saying that he was playing with the 1st string and one of their best Defensive Linemen... they were expecting him to be their week 1 starter & were stunned that he was cut.

That sounds like a win-win for us.

He's done essentially nothing in the pre-season. He will not show up in any pre-season stats.

I like the signing over Sopoaga, but let's be honest...Sopoaga is insurance against Talameda in the run game. Kelly is basically a DD clone. A shell of a guy who is past his prime. DD was done and so is Kelly. Two guys who command (at times) double teams but aren't a real penetrating threat anymore.

From 2012: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dwOMH9w5EQ

Just watch the guy play after play #93. At this point Frostee Rucker is the better player. Kelly is a meh signing at this point. More athletic than Sopoaga but nothing to get excited over.

Given his play last season before going down, we can hope for a stout against the run DE/tackle who gives us 4 sacks ala DD.
