1. Rams: Ndamukon Suh, DT, 6-4, 305, Nebraska. The Rams are going to take BPA and hope to select Colt McCoy at #33. Either that or they will make a trade to get a QB, possibly with the Redskins for Jason Campbell or the Eagles for Michael Vick. Suh is just too good to pass up.

2. Lions: Gerald McCoy, DT, 6-5, 289, Oklahoma St. Fits Jim Schwartz's attacking style to a tee.

TRADE #1: The Bills trade the #9 pick and the #41 pick, plus a 2011 fourth rounder for the Buc's #3 pick.

3. Bills: Sam Bradford, QB, 6-4, 236, Oklahoma. Chan Gailey will be doing backflips in the corridors at Bills headquarters. he has his QBOP&F.

4. Redskins: Russell Okung, T, 6-5, 298, Oklahoma St. The Redskins would like to move down and acquire more picks, but they get no serious offers. Thus, Shanny takes his LT who is NFL ready.

5. Chiefs: Derrick Morgan, OLB/DE, 6-4, 270, Georgia Tech. The Chiefs wanted Okung, but since he was taken, they address the OLB position and improving their pass rush instead. They consider Morgan the BPA here.

6. Seahawks: C.J. Spiller, APB, 5'11, 195, Clemson. They take Spiller here because they fear the 49ers will take him one spot ahwead of their next pick (#14) at #13. Pete now has his version of Reggie Bush and some much needed speed in his offense.

7. Browns: Jason Pierre-Paul, OLB/DE, South Florida. After trading away Kamerion Wimbley, they need a weak side pass rusher and Pierre-Paul is made to order.

8. Raiders: Brian Bulaga, T, 6-6, 312, Iowa. They are tempted to take QB Jimmy Clausen but will try to trade for Jason Campbell or Michael Vick to address that need and be able to take the LT they desperately need here.

9. Bucs: Eric Berry, S, 5-11, 212, Tennessee. Their plan works perfectly. They weren't able to draft Suh or McCoy and had Berry as the next BPA, so they are able to trade down, add two more picks and select Berry.

10. Jaguars: Earl Thomas, S, 5-10, 197, Texas. They would have jumped on Morgan or Pierre-Paul had they slid to them, but instead address their need at safety here, as they consider Thomas a stud and a perfect fit for their system.

11. Broncos: Dez Bryant, WR, 6-2, 210, Oklahoma St. From one head case WR to another. They will be scrutinized for this pick, but not from a talent perspective.

12. Dolphins: Sergio Kindle, OLB/DE, 6-4, 238, Texas. With Porter and Taylor out of the mix, the Tuna fires up his pass rush with Kindle.

13. 49ers: Trent Williams, T, 6-5, 320, Oklahoma. He is the tackle they wanted at this spot. They make the pick within three minutes of being on the clock.

14. Seahawks: Charles Brown, T, 6-6, 298, USC. They know a little about him and are happy to get a very good LT after passing on one at #6.

15. Giants: Sean Weatherspoon, ILB, Missouri. Weatherspoon fits what they want in the middle a little better than Rolando McClain, as Weatherspoon is faster to the ball. His moxie will be a hit in NYC.

16. Titans: Carlos Dunlap, DE, 6-6, 286, Florida. They hope he's the next Jevan Kearse.

17. 49ers: Jimmy Clausen, QB, 6-3, 208, Notre Dame. They get all kinds of trade offers here including 2011 first round picks, but, at the end of their ten minutes they realize they cannot pass on a QBOF.

18. Steelers: Joe Haden, CB, 5-11, 195, Florida. They are delighted the number one rated CB has slid to them.

19. Falcons: Brandon Graham, DE, 6-2, 270, Michigan. The player they wanted to bolster their pass rush.

TRADE: The Patriots trade the #22 and #53 picks to the Texans for the #20 pick.

20. Patriots: Jared Odrick, DT, 6-5, 306, Penn. St. This is the guy they feel can replace Richard Seymour. Thus they make sure they get him.

21. Bengals: Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama. Dahni Jones is now 32 and they love the thought of sliding McClain into the middle of the defense along side OLBers Rey Maualuga and Keith Rivers.

22. Texans: Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise St. Having lost Daunta Robinson make this pick a must. They love Wilson's versatility.

23. Packers: Rodger Saffold, T, Indiana. Rodger keeps Rodgers upright.

24. Eagles: Mike Iupati, G, Idaho. They need to bolster their offensive line, and they get a future All-Pro.

25. Ravens: Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama. They love press corners and Jackson may be the best press corner in the draft.

26. Cardinals: Jerry Hughes, OLB/DE, TCU. They were going to try to decide between Hughes and CB Kareem Jackson, but the Ravens settled that. The Cardinals have now assembled what could well be one of the most prolific pass rushes in the NFL. They will hope to take ILB Jamar Chaney at #58, CB Javier Arenas at #88 and WR Taylor Price at #89.

27. Cowboys: Bruce Campbell, T, Maryland. He's the reason they let Flo go.

28. Chargers: Dan Williams, NT, Tennessee. He's the reason they let Jamal Williams go.

29. Jets: Ricky Sapp, OLB/DE, Clemson. They were targeting him all along. He and G Mike Iupati.

30. Vikings: Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers. Need pick and McCourty is a good one.

31. Colts: Anthony Davis, T, Rutgers. This allows them to switch Charlie Johnson over to RT. They've lost confidence in Tony Ugoh.

32. Saints: Navorro Bowman, LB, Penn. St. Fits their sysytem well and will walk right into Scott Fujita's spot.

The Bucs-Bills trade though possible i dont actually see this trade happening. The Bills are in a good position to draft Clausen and there are a lot people out there who believe that he's actually gonna be better in the pro's then Bradford. Clausen who is used to a pro style offense because of which he would most likely transition much easier into an immediate starting role for the Bills and that coupled with the fact that many forsee injury issues hampering Bradford down the line id think the Bills would be happy taking Clausen and not have to give so much to get a bigger liability at QB. Dont get me wrong i still believe that Bradford will be the first QB gone (most likely first pick) its just that i dont see that trade happening unless Bradford doesn't go first and the Bills are convinced Clausen isnt falling to them.

You're probably right, Monty. It appears to me that Bradford would be a better fit in Chan Gailey's system than Clausen...but that may not be necessarily true as you suggest. But I think he's try to trade up as far as he can to avoid losing out on both.

Certainly an interesting draft. It does allow for some teams reaching which happens every year. I just don't think the Rams pass on Bradford though, but if they do someone trading up for him certainly seems plausible. However I'm not sure the Bills need to jump all the way to #3 to get him. Washington and KC won't take him. I see the Seahawks as possible for taking him, though unlikely.

Also, If the Seahawks want Spiller that badly what do you think of their chances of either moving down from 6 but still in front of SF, or moving up from 14 to prevent SF from taking him?

On Clausen- I think SF taking him if he slides is sheer brilliance. I could definitely see this and really hope it doesn't happen. I'd much rather have Bradford in the division than Clausen personally.

On Patriots trading up- I don't see it. They never seem to trade up and I don't think they will if it is only 2 spots. I can't see Cincy or Houston taking Odrick. Were you thinking someone else might try to trade up and take him before NE could?

@26 I am fine with Hughes, although if Dan Williams does in fact slide to us I would be kind of upset if we pass him up. I'll be shocked if he lasts to 28 and so will SD, which is why it is kind of silly to say he is the reason they let Jamal go.

Overall I like this draft. It's a nice break from the trade free drafts where every team follows strictly to their value boards like most of the other mocks have been.

Mitch, interresting & well thought out draft & very possible that the Lambs could end up with the 2 best players out of the Big 12 if they take Suh #1!!! Stop scaring me like that.

Here's a couple of my thoughts:

1) I heard Jerry Jones :devil:is infactuated with Dez Bryant, so if he slides to the middle of the draft, look for the Cowpies to possibly make a move.

2) I wouldnt be suprised if the Niners selected Bryant either (having 2 #1's) because they have seen what a big pair of WR's can do to an offense first hand here in AZ.

3) I don't see the GMen bypassing McClain for Weatherspoon. Their radio guy last week even stated that if McClain is there at 15, there is no way they pass him & they really need ILB with the departure of Pierce.

I would be smiling if Hughes is our pick at #26 :D:D:D

Mitch, I really like the Jerry Hughes pick for the Cardinals and also the Kareem Jackson selection by Baltimore. Overall a very solid mock draft! Excellent work. Hughes to me is the best pure pass rusher in the entire draft and gives us a true speed rusher to team up with our power rushers in Dockett, Campbell, and even Joey Porter and Clark Haggans.

I would be very happy with Jerry Hughes to the Big Red and I think that could very well be a reality come April 22nd.

Interesting thoughts, Mitch...

One thing's for sure. With both the 49'ers and Seahawks having (2) 1st round picks it's going to add to the intrigue from a Cardinals' stand-point. The Draft is always full of surprises and I expect no different this year. I look at it this way. You must get (2) solid players w/your 1st (2) picks. The 3rd and 4th round selections are a roll of the dice. The 5th-7th you want contributors to your team. With the way the Cards draft these days I'm comfortable w/their thought process. GO CARDS! :)

Absolutley. If he feels that both Clausen and Bradford are gone, Bills could very seriously try and do a move similar to the one made by the Jets last year especially if they are convinced that one of these is gonna be their QBOF.

Interesting draft and definitely took a lot of work. There's just no doubt in my mind that Bradford goes #1 to the Rams, unless they trade back. None.

I can't see St. Louis taking anyone but a QB. especially after releasing Bulger. I see it as

1. Bradford
2. Suh

I also would be surprised to see them take another D-lineman in the first after they picked Long in the first.

The rest of the draft looks good though.

Mitch, you had me scared when you had the Giants selecting Weatherspoon over McClain. Thought that you were setting up McClain to the Cards and that that would make a number of fans crazy that that maybe it could happen. I love how you have the Draft going for the Cards, but feel they might select a NT before a WR. But maybe not. Thanks.

I thought that Brandon Graham was the best pure rusher in this draft; is it what positions they are playing and the fact that Graham doesnt get by the steelers Mitch, that has us so enamored with Hughes.? I've heard by one draftnik that he was a "shell, a one move wonder" Surely Whizz won 't waste even a 3 or 4 pick on a player like this guy said. Hughes must be much more than this.. where could I find good info on him?
Great write up and great thoroughness? also as always, sir.

34. Lions: Vladimir Ducasse, T, UMass. They are happy to get one of the top tackle propects after drafting DT Gerald McCoy instead of T Russell Okung.

35. Bucs: Lamarr Houston, DT, Texas. They wanted Suh or McCoy, traded back and still picked S Eric Berry and added the #41 pick, so they are happy to take Houston, one of the more under-rated DTs in this draft.

36. Chiefs: Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame. "Hello, Golden, this is Coach Weis. We're drafting you."

37. Eagles: Nate Allen, S, South Florida. Here they get real value in a need area for one of the picks they got in the McNabb trade.

38. Browns: Thaddeus Gibson, OLB, Ohio St. Local favorite who will line up on the strong side opposite Pierre-Paul.

39. Raiders: Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois. This is a great pick and will help them recover from last year's DH-B reach.

40. Chargers: Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford. This pick will receive a wow. But he's the perfect compliment to Darren Sproles, and will be a fan favorite immediately.

41. Bucs: Greg Hardy, DE, Mississippi. This pick that they got from the Bills, enables them to restock their defense with S Berry, DT Houston and DE Hardy.

42. Bucs (from Bears): Demaryious Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech. Big, fast playmaker.

43. Dolphins: Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma. The Tuna beats Belichick to him.

44. Patriots: Damian Williams, WR, USC. One of the most NFL ready players in this draft.

45. Broncos: Brian Price, DT, UCLA. Great value here. His sub par Pro Day cost him some.

46. Giants: Jerome Murphy, CB, South Florida. Steps right in as nickel back.

47. Panthers: Jason Worilds, OLB/DE, Virginia Tech. Outside pass rush now a real need.

48. Patriots: Dexter McCluster, APB/WR, Mississippi. Kevin Faulk is getting older and McCluster can soon step into his role.

49. 49ers: Aaron Hernandez, TE, Florida. They love the 2 TE sets and this guy will make that even more difficult to defend.

50. Chiefs (from Falcons): Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama. Scott Pioli will hope he has another Vince Wilfork here.

51. Texans: Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno St. Becomes their feature back.

52. Steelers: Tyson Alualu, DT, California. Gives them needed depth. He's their type of player.

53. Texans (from Patriots): Morgan Burnett, FS, Georgia Tech. They want to upgrade their talent at safety.

54. Bengals" Anthony McCoy, TE, USC. A natural fit here.

55. Eagles: Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida St. They are surprised he slid this far and are happy to get him.

56. Packers: Perrish Cox, CB, Oklahoma St. With Al Harris getting older and coming off an injury, they need a good young CB.

57. Ravens: Ron Gronkowski, TE, Arizona. They are enamored with his talent and feel they can build him back up to strength.

58. Cardinals: Jamar Chaney, ILB, Mississippi St. Had an outstanding off-season on top of an outstanding senior year. Can get to the ball fast and delivers good, tough finishes on his tackles.

59. Cowboys: Tim Tebow, QB, Florida. Jerry Jones loves the PR this will bring and perhaps the message it sends to Tony Romo.

60. Seahawks: Taylor Mays, S, USC. Pete knows how to coach him, or so he thinks.

61. Jets: Chad Jones, S, LSU. Fits the Jets' mold.

62. Vikings: Tony Pike, QB, Cincinnati. They may lose both Brett Favre and Tarvaris Jackson in the next year.

63. Colts: Daryl Washington, LB, TCU. Just their kind of player, fast and physical.

64. Saints: D'Anthony Smith, DT, Louisiana Tech. They tab this local fave to help get younger and quicker up front.

Mitch, I hope you are wrong and Spokane is right. The Rams are sending signals by cutting Bulger that they are going QB, but you just can't pass on Suh. Could be the Peyton Manning/Ryan Leaf or Donovan McNabb/Ricky Williams debate for years.

I do NOT want to see Suh in the NFC West. This guy is scary good.

Mitch,
I think you are on to something with Suh and McCoy for the Rams.

There is also the possibility if they take Suh #1, that they could conceivably trade back into the first round and get Clausen since the Bills would do all they can to maybe get Bradford.

On a Cardinals note, they way your mock is going, they could maybe get Denario Alexander, WR, Missouri in the third round.

Love the Jamar Chaney pick, Mitch, and i would love to take him in the second regardless of who we take in the first. I rate him high and is for me the leader in the ILB rankings behind Spoon and Roland and is in that third group with Sean Lee and Daryl Washington. Id most like Lee or Chaney out of those three in the second.

Those third round picks should be very interesting, stewdog. I do think a WR will be one of them. You are onto something there and Alexander would be a very intriguing pick.

BTW, for those of you just clicking onto this thread if you go back toward the end of the first page and you're interested, I posted my 2nd round mock. Any and all feedback is welcomed.

49. 49ers: Aaron Hernandez, TE, Florida.

In light of yesterday's Santonio Holmes trade, the Steelers will probably be looking for a WR now. It's possible they would think about one at #18...but if they don't I would now think they would at #52.

11. Broncos: Dez Bryant, WR, 6-2, 210, Oklahoma St. From one head case WR to another. They will be scrutinized for this pick, but not from a talent perspective.
Very solid work, Mitch, except...

Why would the Broncos go from, as you said, one head case to another? Who would do that? No question Bryant has talent - I could see Al Davis and the Raiders selecting him at #8. :wink2:

Love the Jamar Chaney pick, Joe, and i would love to take him in the second regardless of who we take in the first. I rate him high and is for me the leader in the ILB rankings behind Spoon and Roland and is in that third group with Sean Lee and Daryl Washington. Id most like Lee or Chaney out of those three in the second.

I'm not sure where these high grades for Chaney are coming from. Based off a combine and pro day? Because the Raiders liked him? After the season, guy was a mid- to late-round pick. He wasn't listed in either of my draft guides. Now he's a second round pick?

NFL.com has a grade on him equivalent to Jevan Snead and Linval Joseph. Neither of those guys are 2nd rounders. CBSsports.com has him as a 4-5th round pick. ESPN.com doesn't even rank him.

2nd round would be way too high to draft Jamar Chaney. Either of our third round picks would probably be too high to draft him.

This is his HIGHLIGHT tape. There isn't even anything interesting on it. This guy could some day develop into a starter, but right now he's a fast special teams player.

Round 2:

33. Rams: Colt McCoy, QB, Texas. Their patience pays off, as teams trying to move up into the first round to get him can't get any takers.

Switch our #58 with D. Washington. He is a better WMLB then Chaney.

In the Third look for a DT and SILB.

Im not sure how others rate him or why they view him highly but i can give you the reasoning for me liking him in the second. with most ILB prospects size seems to be a concern however i think Chaney has good size at 6'1'' and 240 pounds. He has been clocked as fast as 4.52 in the 40-yard dash, although he generally runs a 4.60 plus he put up the best overall numbers for ILB in the draft. from the video footage ive seen of him he has excellent overall range, plays with a very high motor is more then tough enough although it could be argued that he doesnt execute all his tackles very well. He has excellent zone coverage and we know we need that from our ILB's. Combine this from what i saw and the fact that he was the Senior Bowl defensive MVP, the best overall numbers at the combine and a superb pro day performance and it all adds up to a very good rising ILB and id be happy with taking him in the second. I will admit that i personally wouldnt have thought that last year where he'd have been lucky to get drafted bu the guy has excelled at everything put in front of him since then and though id prefer Rolando, Spoon, McClain and Washington ahead of Chaney i would take him in the second if these guys are gone.

I dont like to trump up expert opinions on why i support a player as i try and only back the player i have a decent knowledge of myself, but Mel Kiper has said that Chaney is the fastest rising Linebacker in the draft and expect him to go between 2nd and 3rd.

Thanks for beating me to it, Monty. You covered it all.

I think that if the Cardinals do not pick an ILB at #26, it behooves them to take one at #58. And at that point they can't gamble that one of the better ones will still be on the board at #88. Thus, the hope is that the Cardinals will be able to select from a pool of talent that may include Jamar Chaney, Sean Lee and Daryl Washington. And two other hybrid LBers that I think might be a good fit in a switch to WILB (the way Dansby was) are Koa Misi and Dekoda Watson. Any one of these 5 at #58 would be great.

See, these are normally the reasons I would not like a draft board climber; everything you mentioned added together doesn't equal what happened on tape or in Senior Bowl practices. Remember that the game is pretty meaningless for scouts and coaches, but the practices are where these kids are really given the chance to shine. Combine, workouts, private workouts, these all to me are merely eliminators; if they bomb, then lower them on your draft board. Otherwise, don't drop them, but don't bump them up too far either.

As to Chaney, I don't know nearly enough about the kid to have formed an opinion myself.
