The Philadelphia 76ers will continue their 6-game road trip on Wednesday when they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Paycom Center. This will be the third game of the trip as they continue to try and make a push into the bottom 6 of the league standings.
The Sixers have a top 6 protected pick so the best bet is to lose as many games as they can before the season ends so they have the best odds to keep their pick in the draft lottery. If it lands outside the top 6, the pick goes to the Thunder as part of the Al Horford deal in 2020.
Before the Sixers take on the Thunder, here is the updated lottery standings in the league:
9. Chicago Bulls 29-39 --GB
10. Miami Heat 29-39 --GB (final play-in spot in the East)
11. Toronto Raptors 24-45 5.5 GB
12. Philadelphia 76ers 23-45 6 GB
13. Brooklyn Nets 23-46 6.5 GB (fifth-worst record in the league)
At this point, the Sixers have to catch the Nets to move into the top 5 of the lottery standings. Philadelphia has to keep losing and hope Brooklyn can come up with a win here and there so the Sixers can up their chances for the lottery. May 12 will prove to be a big day for the franchise as they move forward.
