IMO it was a big mistake to make Justin Upton the face of the franchise. He may end up being a superstar but he definitely is not one now. He's currently batting .200 and is on pace for 200+ strikeouts. Most troubling is his lack of poise under pressure.

Yeah I know he had a decent second half last year but I really think the Dabcks jumped the gun and putting a lot of pressure on a young kid may backfire.

A little early for this, no? Look at last season. On April 20, 2010 Upton was hitting .182 with 0 homers, 1 RBI, and 11 strikeouts. We aren't even 10% of the way thru the season. Hell starting April 24th of last year Upton went absolutely crazy. Over the next 32 games (4/24-5/28) Upton hit .397 with 9 homers, 28 RBI, 16 BB, and 32 strikeouts.

Upton was an All-Star last year. Let's step away from the ledge and just calm down and sit back for a month or two. I am sure you will look back on writing this and laugh.

Good lord youve got to be kidding. What pressure? Playing in front of a half empty section with his name on it? Youre over reacting BIG TIME, he started slow last year, Im sure he'll be fine.

Its still early and even if those are the numbers he puts up all year you cant say its because of Uptown, thats dumb. Correlation does not mean causation!

I hope the ball he hit off his ankle or shin, and had to leave the game, doesn't bench him. But I wouldn't rush him back if he is going to favor the leg.

Parra and Ryal aren't CoJack and Upton, but they're pretty solid subs. Parra can drive in runs and Ryal has some power.

But it will be good to see Upton go on a tear.

Upton is fine. He is in the starting lineup tonight.

Yep, it must be UpTowns fault! Lets blame this whole crappy season on that. Come on, your premise is ********, just admit it.

No, my premise is that Uptown is ********. They've almost completely quit talking about it during broadcasts.

Making a 22 year old the face of the organization, as well as shuffling him between 3rd and cleanup in the batting order, was -- obviously -- a mistake.

He's leading the league in strikeouts. And fifth on the team -- not the league, the team -- in BAvg, RBI's and slugging percentage. (I stopped looking at that point.)

As the original clown-Manager Casey Stengel once said, "Doesn't anybody here know how to play this game?"

Apparently not the GM. Nor the Manager. Nor the Marketing Director. And now, on the D'backs MLB site, they're pushing him for the All Star game.

Fifth on his team in key offensive categories? C'mon now.

As they have done over the years with so much young talent, management is ruining another career. Until they trade him away, of course.

Calling it uptown is just the tip of the iceberg.

I was responding to your ******** remark. I still say the Uptown idea was a bad one.

In what way were you responding to anything I said? You bumped your own moronic thread to try to prove some non point. Saying that the D'backs creating UpTown in any way lead to his struggles is insanely silly and makes no sense. The whole team is playing bad, there's lot of finger pointing to be done, but to point it at a silly ticket sales promotion is pretty weak reasoning.

Again, correlation does not equal causation. Look it up, learn it, live it.

I stand by what I said and the Hoover Dam was a mistake too.
