Thanks for posting. Interesting comment at the end about "The relationship not being there" between Kurt and Matt as a reason Matt didn't grow as a quarterback.

Yeah, I thought so too but I couldn't tell for sure if Glazer was talking about the relationship with Kurt, the relationship with Whisenhunt or the relationship with Kurt and Whiz. Also, from his earlier comments he might be laying the blame at Matt's feet for that failure to connect.

Warner is at least a decade older than Leinart. It's not surprising to me they didn't hit it off, especially considering Leinart's lifestyle choices when he first got here. It would surprise me if Warner didn't try hard to make a connection, but I'm guessing Leinart never wanted Warner as a mentor because that comes with more implications than just football.

On the flip side, Warner seems to have taken Leinart's side in the interim, noting Leinart didn't get a lot of snaps in the preseason. I think it shows Warner was at least somewhat emotionally invested in Leinart's success.

To me also, however, I just read the article on Aaron Rodgers from July in ESPN the mag, and he said that he and Favre had no relationship either. Rodgers still learned the offense and became a damn good QB, I'm not sure if that relationship thing is much of a valid excuse for not learning the system.

It rarely is in any sport at this level. How many veterans are inspired to do this: "Hey, kid, it looks like they drafted you to take my spot. Why don't I teach you everything I know to help you take a year or two off my career and millions of dollars out of my pocket?"

That makes sense. Warner was a dedicated and Christian work ethic QB. He might have been offended by Leinart's celebrity lifestyle and lackadaisical work ethic. Warner's wife was outspoken and judgmental, and she was probably offended by Matt as well. There was a personality mismatch.
