Great Amare isn't playing at all now. He got no minutes in the first half at all and Shawn Marion replaced Tim Duncan with Boozer at C basically.

Is Amare still on the team? Oh wait...there he is! On the bench!

I really dont see how Boozer deserves to play over Amare. Or even Odom for that matter. Odom does nothing, and Boozer is clearly less talented then Amare.

I wonder if he pissed off brown somehow.

Odom was fantastic in the game today. I would play odom over amare.

It puzzles me why brown isn't playing Amare. In todays game there were a lot of unnecessary small lineups; one was with Marion at PF and Boozer at C. The team could have used amare instead of going small. One possible explanation for Amare's lack of playing time is that he is turnover prone and isn't a great passer.

Back to the game, I thought the USA team looked pretty bad. They lacked the energy they showed during the Serbia game and their half court offense still looks poor. The USA players lack the patience to attack a defense correctly, although this may be due to the fact that they only practiced against a zone and were crossed up by the Turks using a man defense.

Larry Brown has a lot of work to do over the next couple of weeks. USA is almost certain to get through the first round OK, but they will have to get a lot better if they are going to with the gold.

In the boxscore, it said he was sick. But even in the previous games he hardly ever played.

Carlos Boozer has been decent on the offensive end of the floor. Today he scored a bunch of points by basically standing in the right place, catching the ball, and making wide-open baskets created by Carmelo Anthony and others. His defense on the other hand is just bad much of the time.

I laugh when I hear Bill Walton and his cohort complain about the international referees' traveling calls. There has been one or two that were bad calls, but for the most part is traveling. It's just not the traveling where used to seeing in the NBA where you has to be completely obvious with the player taking five or six steps. In the game against Serbia & Montenegro it was a traveling call on Carmelo Anthony. They replayed it, it was clear that he traveled, and neither of them would stop complaining about it.

Actually think Marbury and Iverson are playing much better, but I don't think they should be on the court together very much. I actually think team USA has been at its best when they have Wade/Iverson, Anthony, Marion, Tim Duncan, and Lamar Odom/LeBron James in the game.

I laugh when Bill Walton tries to compare Wade to John Stockton, Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson..

the problem is the refs are INCONSISTENT...they call weak travel calls on the U.S. and not the same call on the other end. there is a replay of a player i think on italy who BLATANTLY travelled (3 CLEAR steps)...no call. gave him the layup.

Real reason Amare doesn't play...

okay..heard this on 1060 am today...the reason Amare doesn't play is because the coaching staff does not like the fact that Amare is not a good passer because of the zone defense, and that Amare is a hack (fouls) machine in practice. Also, they said Brown and his staff are getting down to a 10 man rotation and that leaves out Amare and Okufor. Oh well, hopefully he can prove 'em all wrong this year.

Actually if that's the case then he deserves to sit. Maybe that will teach him some patience. Lets face it, his athletic ability is off the charts but he has no patience on the offensive or defensive end.

In practice he gets to play against Duncan every day. Do you think this might be why he has trouble on defense?

Amare does need to learn to pass out of double teams more quickly. I'm sure it's painful, but this is the kind of teaching we've been hoping for. I don't care how much he plays in the Olympics as long as he comes away a better player this season.

While at first i was mad that amare wasnt playing (i know the flu thing is BS) I have nnow figured out that he might learn something being on the bench. Maybe some humility.
