USF own their own 20 yard line with 58 sec left going to be a good finish

USF should never have been ranked that high. They aren't that good, obviously. LSU, Ohio State or Oklahoma would destroy them.

Another pretender goes down.

Nonsense. Beating Auburn and Virginia Tech is superior to anything Ohio St. has done this year.

What this does, besides zap another undefeated team, is validate Rutgers as a top ten contender and give further proof that the Big East is pretty good.

Second time this season I've seen South Florida and they're probably the worst #2 team in college football history. Thankfully they'll lose a couple more times (I'd take UConn and the points next weekend) so this stupid Cinderella story will die.

And Ohio State isn't that good either but it won't matter, Michigan is going to beat them in the Big House if the Bucks make it that far unbeaten.

You take those points....Let's see how that works out for you.

So much hate for any team outside of the Pac-10....sheesh

That was a Helluva game.

Now the final score was 30 -27, wasn't it? That means neither team was blown out. Isn't that the same score as the Colorado/Oklahoma game? Yes, I believe it was, and that didn't make OKlahoma an over rated bad team, did it?

It was a conference game, on the road for USF. That happens in conference games. One team wins, one loses. That doesn't make that conference over rated. LSU got beaten in conference, in OT and I don't hear any squawking about them being over rated or sudddenly lousy. USC lost to Stanford by a 3 point margin, in conference, and they aren't lousy or over rated.

Rutgers pulled every gimmick out of their bag and it seemed as if everyone worked. Schiano coached like there was no tomorrow. I have no complaints about the TD called back because of the review for " illegal forward propelling" the ball on the fumble. That doesn't get called in review and USF probably wins.

I have come to realize, that it is hard for a bunch of football fans to accept the Big East as a damned good conference, but they have 4 teams comp[eting at a top 20 level and if one of them loses to the other, I don't see how that exposes them as fraudulent.

Right now USF joins Cal, USC. Oregon, Wisconsin, LSU, Kentucky, West Virgina, South Carolina et al as one loss teams who aren't frauds. This is parity and balance.

IMHO.

Not me. I picked ' em in the ASFN College contest. I think ripping them because they lost is different than saying they never were any good, or still aren't any good. USC is still in the top 10. It will be interesting to see how far USF drops.

Good call. I agreed that there was no way USF was #2. They and Grothe have finally been exposed for good.

Worked out fine, thanks.

I don't hate South Florida, but I actually have two eyes and can see they're not very good. They'll lose again this season as well. I like the Pac, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the over-the-top Big East groupie that you are.

Huh? I dont think USF EVER deserved to be ranked #2. Thats absurd. Do I think they are a good team? yes. A top 20 team probably. My fault lies in the fact that I havent paid any attention to UCONN (which by the way is a BE school, so that is why I am baffled by your comments)

I didnt see the game. So I couldnt tell you if UConn is very good or not. Just more proof that going on the road in your conference-regardless of conference- is not any easy thing to do...

And I can assure you that yes, yes indeed you are, as big a Pac-10 groupie, as I am a BE fan....Quacks like a duck, sparky!

This seems to happen every year. Once teams get into the middle of conference play and start beating on each other, the poll watchers go nuts.

Cal has lost 2, USC has lost 2, Texas has lost 2, Florida has lost 3, Wisconsin has lost 2, and on and on. Pretty soon they will all be bad teams and not worthy of top 20 status, but then there won't be enough teams left to have a top 20.

The super conferences have become victims of their own system. Lots of competition in conference play and a whole bunch of fans still expect unbeaten records as the measuring stick. Unrealistic expectations IMO.
