Here are just a few of the players who scored in Utah's franchise-record seven-goal game against the Seattle Kraken:

Mikhail Sergachev, Clayton Keller, Logan Cooley, Lawson Crouse, Michael Carcone, Kailer Yamamoto and Nick Schmaltz.

Well, maybe 'a few' is a bit of an understatement.

“If you remember in training camp, we talked about our depth," said coach André Tourigny. "A season has a lot of chapters, and we were in the trenches in January. It was a really tough situation, and we didn't have that depth scoring and we knew our team was depending on that. Since then, we have had that depth scoring and you can see the result."

And that doesn't even account for the number of players who registered a point, as 12 Utah players finished the night with at least one, with Sergachev and Dylan Guenther leading the way with three points each.

Simply put, according to Tourigny, Utah had "a memory" about its 0-2 record against the Kraken this season.

Yes, this game was an absolute blowout, one that had Seattle Kraken fans turning off their TVs early, and those at the Delta Center cheering in relief when Seattle finally scored its lone goal on a power play in the third period.

It was the one power play goal that Seattle only managed to convert on, largely because it scored before being charged with a penalty, a moment that occurred twice during previous Seattle power plays

News: Utah's Alex Kerfoot Nominated For King Clancy Memorial TrophyIt is that time of the year when the NHL releases the list of players nominated for individual trophies. Today, the NHL announced that Utah Hockey Club’s Alex Kerfoot has been named a finalist for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.
Meanwhile, Utah exploited its opportunities on the power play, whether it was 4-on-4, 5-on-3, or 5-on-4, converting on three of its six power play chances.

This included scoring on its first power play chance—a two-man advantage following a cross-checking penalty against Keller and a double-minor high stick that left Yamamoto with a bloody lip that "hurt a little bit"—with Keller scoring the goal for Utah.

With a wide-open lane and Seattle playing very far back on defense, Keller was able to capitalize and score one of his easiest goals of the season.

It wouldn’t just be Keller who scored on the power play this period for Utah.

Yamamoto responded with his own answer to Jamie Oleksiak’s high stick that left his lip swollen, scoring Utah’s second consecutive power play goal just minutes after Keller.

"It's awesome. Obviously, I owe them one," said Yamamoto. "They didn't want me, so I came in with a little bit of a vengeance, but it's a good one for us, for sure."

Considering that Utah, over a ten-game stretch prior to its latest wins against the Jets and Kraken, had only scored a whopping 1-of-11 power play goals, Utah has flipped the script, converting on five its last nine power play chances over its last two games.

But having a couple of 5-on-3 advantages with plenty of space, combined with a relatively unaggressive Seattle penalty kill unit, was sure to help Utah find success on the power play, even though power play goals had been hard to come by as of late.

Can Anyone on Utah Hockey Club Reach Alex Ovechkin's Record? He's done it. Alex Ovechkin has broke the legendary Wayne Gretzky record.
With Utah running away with the game, scoring four more goals in the second period, the team was in full control and getting whatever look it wanted.

"At the beginning of the season, sometimes we just get upset and be like, oh, whatever, or start turning the puck over because we're trying to do too much," said Sergachev. "But today it showed that we were committed to playing the right way for sixty minutes.

And though there was no Utah goal in the third, Yamamoto would once again elicit quite the response from the Utah crowd, this time because of the absolute mammoth hit he laid on Seattle's Joshua Mahura.

"I was just bracing myself. I saw him coming –– wasn’t too sure, just asking why is he stepping up, 7-1 game," said Yamamoto.

To put the cherry on top of the already dominant performance, Crouse and Seattle's Tye Kartye got into a late third-period fight that saw Crouse land a few blows before forcing Kartye to the ice to an overjoyed Utah crowd.

The playoff hopes are still alive for Utah. Though one win from the Wild will eliminate Utah — with Minnesota's home game against the league-worst San Jose Sharks likely to officially crush Utah's playoff chances — Utah can continue to do its part and win out its four remaining games of the season, if nothing else, for its own pride and honor, should the Wild end up winning one of their last four games.

Certainly, the playoffs will be what motivates Utah to play hard in its few remaining games, but with its last home game of the season against the Nashville Predators on Thursday, April 10, Utah will want to get one last win in front of its home crowd before ending the season on a three-game road trip.
