Despite compiling a 5-9 record in non-conference play, Vermont women's basketball turned on another gear in conference play, earning the two-seed in the America East conference tournament.

The Catamounts won the whole thing, including defeating UAlbany on its home floor in the championship, to earn the conference's automatic bid to the women's NCAA tournament.

Vermont will hear its name called on Selection Sunday, but where the Catamounts end up is the major question.

The bracket will be revealed at 8 p.m. Sunday night on ESPN.

What seed is Vermont women's basketball projected to earn?

All the bracket predictions project Vermont women's basketball to be a 15-seed in the NCAA tournament. The Catamounts slide into UAlbany's spot.

With a resume featuring mostly Quad 4 wins and a NET ranking of 94 as of March 15, the Catamounts appear to be locked in at the 15-seed line.

Who will the Catamounts face in the first round?

In the NCAA women's basketball tournament, the top four seeds in each region host the first two rounds in their home gym.

Both ESPN and Her Hoops Stats project that the Catamounts will be heading to Storrs, Connecticut, to face UConn. If that is where the committee decides to place Vermont it would be a rematch of the Catamounts 2023 first round game.

Other teams besides UConn who are in the mix for a No. 2 seed include Duke, Notre Dame, TCU and NC State.

UConn, Duke and TCU all won its respective conference tournaments.
