The Vancouver Canucks announced they have assigned forward Vilmer Alriksson from the OHL's Brampton Steelheads to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks.

Alriksson split his time between Brampton and the Guelph Storm this season, recording 23 points in 26 games with Guelph and 12 in 17 games with Brampton.

A fourth round pick of the Canucks in 2023, Alriksson notched 17 goals and 33 points in 67 games for the Storm last season, his first in North America.

Listed a 6'6 214 pounds, Alriksson is a massive winger with some skill. His first chance to make his professional debut comes Apr. 11 against the Calgary Wranglers.

Abbotsford are on a 13-game winning streak and sit second in the AHL's Pacific Division. They have clinched a playoff spot and are three points back of the Colorado Eagles as they look to catch them to earn a bye.
