Right now I don't like the contract, but at least they were proactive and went out and got a guy that will help this team. Maybe they'll change my mind when they start playing the games.

The fact that the Suns aren't supposed to talk about the deal with Nash has meant that they have not cleared up the exact sequence. My guess is that they were ready to deal with Kobe if he was willing to talk, but were prepared to go to Nash if he wasn't.

I've ragged on Kobe as a person, but I will give him credit if he indeed to the Suns straight up that it wasn't going to happen. He could have kept them hanging for two weeks or more. Maybe the Colangelos gave him an ultimatum - we do something TODAY or the offer is off the table. Still, he could have played the Suns for a while and didn't.

Did you guys notice that in the same article it talked about the suns wanting to trade for iggy. It confirms what I was thinking which is that they miscalculated the 7th pick trade. The thought iggy wasnt gonna be there. I really thought he would be a good fit in the team as a backup to jj or shawn, but oh well.

A case in which PHX outsmarted themselves.

Draftwise, that doesn't happen very often.

I'm not really convinced that they did seriously tried to trade back in. Getting a big is a much larger concern and Iggy doesn't solve that problem.

I think the contract is a little steep but I think it may have been completely neccesary. Steve's first choice was obviously the Mavs so we had to put something on the table that was to good to pass up. I still agree with what they did and like the way they went about doing it.

Well i agree that the middle is more important, but anytime you can get someone with above average perimeter defense (especially on this team) and that can backup jj and shawn you go for it. In addition, the guy has great court vision and would be a good zone buster. I think the suns screwed up and then tried to currect it, but it was too late.

I think they wanted Igoudala because he could immediately join the rotation at a rookie's salary. How often do you find a guy in the draft who can play at that rate? It would've made Casey Jacobsen very expendable, I think.

I have mixed feelings on Iggy. Very talented player. I did not expect him to drop. Most people felt he would be gone. To think that only the point guards would be there at 7 is a reasonable guess by the Suns. The pick from the Bulls will be a better player than Iggy.

I think that there are more talented players than Iggy in next years draft, if we get a pick say from 4-7, Martynas might be available at 4 or 5 with a one more year in Europe under his belt. And there are two point guards from the ACC, Jarret Jack and the guy from Wake Forest, Chris Paul, makes more sense to add youth next year after we add some experience this year.
