Anyone have a smart phone with a verizon plan? My plan is running out in the next month and I am looking at getting a smart phone. Just wondering if any of you had any recommendations? I am looking at buying the BlackBerry 8703e. I would love to get the BlackBerry Pearl, but Verizon doesnt offer it.

Anyone have any favorite smart phones or have any info that could help me out?

I have the 8703 and love it. I carry it in my front pocket and its not too big. Great phone!

My wife has the Treo. She is a big windows fan.

Im a pretty big windows fan as well, but the 8703 looks very nice.

How much do the data packages cost along with a regular service plan?

I have had both a blackberry & some other piece of crap windows based phone. I got the windows based phone because I wanted a windows-based phone, so I wasn't biased against it. I hated the thing. I had really wished I had gotten another blackberry. My brother (who was a co-worker at the time) opted for the 8703e (or whatever the model number is) and it is great.

I have the Samsung i730 but was looking at moving to the Q. There is some much more you can do with a Windows phone than a blackberry.

What are some of the positives of a windows based phone?

Much easier to run on a Windows Server network. You can check attachments and edit windows documents. Also there are alot more applications you can download for free. Blackberry is a nother added cost to a business. Not sure if your using it for business or personal, but these are just few stuff I can come up with.

I was able to edit excel spreadsheets, word docs, text documents, etc. with my blackberry. I don't think it could handle publisher or powerpoint.

I honestly can't tell you any pros of the windows based phones. I had no affection to blackberry (which is why I chose a different phone when I changed jobs). All I can say is, having used both, there's no comparison. BB was much better. It is just much more user-friendly (imho) and had better functionality. Sorry I can't be more specific, I've been gone from the other job for months & poured battery acid into my brain to erase as many memories from that job as possible! I don't have either phone, now.

I am really starting to like the i730. I had narrowed it down to the i730, audiovox xv6700, and the Q, because I doubt I am going to buy the data package anytime soon. I like the i730 better then the Q, just because it has built in wifi. If the Q had wifi I would get that, but it doesnt.

What is your impression/opinion on the i730? You can get them pretty cheap on ebay ($210), considering Verizon is charging $515 for them.

I like the blackberry 8703 because it does the three things well that I need from my phone --- good phone, good email, and good day planner.

If you want more than that, use a windows based phone. I don't need all the extra gizmos, I am on my phone enough.

I had an older version of the Audiovox you are looking at and hated it. If you are going to get one get the Q or the Blackberry. I switched from verizon to Tmobile and got the blackberry pearl and love it but have heard good things about the verizon blackberrys too.

I had the audiovox xv6700...when you posted that name I was pretty sure that was my phone, so I looked it up, and sure enough--that was the beast. I picked it because I loved the idea of the slide-out keyboard. I never hated any piece of technology like I did that phone. It really is a piece of crap. It would completely freeze up at random times--I hated the fact that there was no way to turn it off. It was constantly 'forgetting' my password & whatnot for my email. That was the most annoying part of all. usually about twice a day I had to re-enter my password. I went over it with every tech guy in my office, and on the phone w/Verizon. Everyone was doing everything correctly--it just dropped it without any apparent rhyme or reason...UGH!

That makes two of us that had it & hated it...I'd scratch that one off your list! ;)

Thanks for the help guys...

I would love to get the Q, but I want a phone with wifi and the Q doesnt have it. I am leaning towards the i730 right now, because of the features, windows OS, wifi, and the fact I can add lots of program on to the phone.
