Ken Whisenhunt has a 30-23 regular-season record as coach of the Cardinals and is 4-2 in the postseason.

Sometimes, statistics just don’t matter. That appears to be the case with the 2010 Arizona Cardinals.

Statistically speaking, the Cardinals are amongst the worst teams in the league. Actually, they’re dead last. When examining the four major team categories – passing and rushing yards and opposing passing and rushing yards – Arizona ranks 26th or worse in each category, a claim no other team can come close to making.

It turns out that most NFL teams are at least good at something. Yes, even the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers, all whom are winless on the season. But the same can’t be said for the Cardinals.

So how has Arizona’s passing game -- averaging a mere 153 yards per game -- not been its downfall? What about the miniscule 87 yards per game on the ground? On the flip side, allowing over 241 yards per contest through the air and more than 140 yards rushing certainly doesn’t bode well, right?

The overarching theme of the Graves-Wiz-Michael B regime appears to be:

Consistently do the right things and, over the long haul, the odds will eventually work in your favor.

(The converse being: "Make precipitous moves - that might help you temporarily in the short run but could undercut the long-range health & welfare of your football team - and the odds will eventually make you weaker").

This isn't to say that you should never take a chance or make a bold move (or that you might get lucky & get away with a series of stunning but risky personnel moves that wow everybody), but, in most cases, I think a team is better off letting the laws of probability work in its favor.

I think thus far, it's been working for us.

I think it's mythologizing things a bit too much, but the most important stat is W-L, and I can't argue with his record so far.

I do like the roster management for the most part. I was a fan of replacing Rolle with Rhodes at the time: rarely can you replace a loss with equal value in the same offseason, and I thought Rhodes was a solid pickup. And after 5 games, Rolle has 1 INT for 36yds while Rhodes has 1 INT for 65yds. Small sample size I know, but there's certainly no reason at present to say we've downgraded.

QB remains a glaring question mark, but at least the ? is now Max Hall.

I just don't see how anyone could be happy with the roster management this year. The Cards are weak just about everywhere except at punter and QB the first 4 games was a disaster. 31st in yards per play on offense! Near the bottom in most defensive categories!

We have two guys in Rhodes and Toler who has been better than the guys they replaced. The others not yet. Meanwhile we have guys like Dockett and Campbell and Beanie and Robinson who have regressed from last season.

But we had a ton of turnover in personnel and injuries to some key players in Hayes, Breaston and Doucet, and they now have those guys back plus 5 games and the bye week to get more cohesive. Hopefully we'll see some more positive results the next few weeks.

Horse poo its a terrible article. in spite of, in spite of, in spite of ect....

because of? whiz? Its because of talented players left on the roster in spite of whiz!

DD, Porter, Faneca, whiz hand picked them and paid them tops. They aint showed up, and so far pretty much suck at their pay scale! i'm scared to put ADUB in there but He's having a bad year by his standards?

The Beans having a horrible year so far but THT has the opportunities again, he's busted a nice TD congrats.

UFA QB, WR, WR, Obrien coming off a pre draft knee surgery,

I don't know the only hope I have is Whiz only gave UFA Max Hall 4-5 more passes than the cards RB carries combined. We may actually get some balance by forcing whiz's playcalling,

Whiz has no competition, He has the contract, the personell power, the playcalling,
I don't think He has anything to do with winning this year so far, neither does his 4 Coordinators!

I see a mess on the field, poor fundementals, inferior players on the field, not much better on the bench. We suck at everything football! We lead in no positive statistics? and all the negatives?

How can you spin that like this read? Oaklands kicker is the best player on our team!

Hope it all changes this week, with MR. Hayes, Doucett and Breaston and Obrien finally maybe getting to play.

I'm hoping but this attitude is a farce! We need to eventually act like champions rather than blunder dawgs.
