IMO, this is the best role-playing game ever, and close to the top of all time, period.

The story was very involving, but that was never a concern with the Final Fantasy games, starting from its early days and continuing through the SNES version of Final Fantasy III, which was an amazing game for that system as well.

The music was always cheesy, but the cinematics, even on the old Playstation version, were pretty good when looking at it historically. At the time of its release, there just wasn't anything like it.

The gameplay was definitely terrific as well, mainly becuase it wasn't a simple hack-and-slash campaign, there were puzzles to solve and relationships to nurture in-between all the requisite fighting. Still a fine example of great game programming.

I never finished this game, and probably logged about 20 hours into it. I was never a big Playstation fan, and this may have to do with it.

I always enjoyed the Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy RPG's from the NES and the SNES era though.

Final Fantasy X was my first taste of this game, and I feel that it was definitely the best game I ever played. SOOOO Involving, it's not even funny.
