Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill didn't play football in 2024 after the Titans let his contract expire at the end of the 2023 season, but that doesn't mean his career is over. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings have been in conversation with the quarterback.

Sources: The #Vikings have had discussions with former #Titans QB Ryan Tannehill about a potential deal. Talks are ongoing and nothing is imminent as of right now, sources tell @NFLonFOX. pic.twitter.com/yF71IYo9Pg

The Vikings have a single quarterback on their roster right now: J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy missed his entire rookie season with Minnesota when he suffered an ACL injury before the season started. He's untested in the NFL, but even if he's ready to be the starter, the Vikings still need a backup. Tannehill could be that guy if the two sides can come to an agreement.

Tannehill spent his first six seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins before he was traded. He was in his fifth season with the Titans when he lost the starting spot to Will Levis during Levis' rookie year. That was the nail in the coffin for Mike Vrabel, who would lose his head coaching job after the 2023 season.

As Schultz reported, nothing is set in stone, and talks are ongoing.
