virus question please respond...

Hey alright I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of virus this might be i've tried nortons and godzilla but none of them have helped here are the problems i'm having when I turn on my computer first I will get no icons on start up my background that is it I can fix it by deleting one of the explorer.exe and starting a new one but thats a little annoying to do it everytime, then my date clock will go from 2007, to 1999, to 2005 and i've tried to fix it through the control panel but no luck. Sigh and the last problem is I can not turn on my windows firewall at all even through the control panel I'm I screwed and have to reinstall windows or has anyone else had this problem and figured out what it is thanks for the help Oh yeah by the way i'm running windows xp on a dell

Im pretty certain everything that needs to be turned on is turned on

yeah thats all paid my computer will turn on i just get no desktop icons to show up

Have you tried running the anti-virus programs in safe mode?

can you use your mouse? Try right clicking your mouse and go to properties. Is active desktop checked? That sounds like it could be the cause.

Do you have a windows key on your keyboard? Can you browse through your computer that way? Can you CTRL+ALT+DEL?

It really does sound like you have active desktop turned on.
