So I am buying Vista but I accidently bought the 64 bit version. Should I cancel the order from New Egg and get the 32 bit?

Ryan?

From what I have heard the 32 bit version is a much better choice due to a lot of problems regarding 64 bit Vista and instability. Unless you have a specific reason for wanting to use the 64 bit version, I would advise going with the 32 bit at this time.

Do you have a 64 bit capable chip? If so, I would have bought the 64 bit version. Vista overall has bugs and trouble running some old software. I probably would have waited for the first major service pack before buying it period.

From what I hear, you should just stay with XP and don't bother with Vista.

Microsoft's attempt to copy Apple is a disaster so far.

Aside from a handful of isolated issues (most of which are with the 64 bit version) which should mostly be taken care of in SP1, Vista is still a better operating system than XP. Whether or not it is enough of an upgrade over XP for most users at this time to justify the cost is another question all together.

Yeah, I beta tested Vista and it was so moronic just to run a program. You get like 10 popups asking, "Are you sure you want to allow access to ______"

Plus, the amount of hardware you need is asnine

This is "great" news because all the new computers at the big electronic stores are now pre-loaded with Windows Vista.

Yuck... I forgot all about that. Luckily they toned a lot of that down after RC1, I think that was probably one of the most universally hated aspects of Vista.

64-bit doesnt have nearly the driver support as the 32-bit right now. you would be bound to run in with issues.

and unless you are using an ungodly amount of RAM (8GB plus), there really isnt any need to go with the 64-bit.

What version of Vista did you get?

I so wish that I would have done that beta testing from the link that you provided us.

I feel like such a tool for missing out on that.

Well.......you are a tool dream....but that's another thread. :D J/K. I actually have been able to beta every OS since Win 95. It helps my cousin works at MS. The sad thing is he offered to send me a beta for Vista and I never followed up on it and didn't try it. I should have. :(
