The 2025 SEC Tournament championship game was contested Sunday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
No. 2 seed Florida (30-4) defeated No. 4 seed Tennessee (27-7), 86-77, for its second win against the Vols during the 2024-25 basketball season. The Gators also defeated Tennessee, 73-43, on Jan. 7 in Gainesville, Florida. Tennessee's lone win this season against Florida was a, 64-44, victory on Feb. 1 at Food City Center.
In Sunday's SEC Tournament championship game, Tennessee guard Jordan Gainey led all scorers with 24 points. Zakai Zeigler also scored 23 points for the Vols.
Gainey scored 10 points in first half and 14 points during the second half. He converted 7-of-15 field goal attempts, 2-of-8 three-point attempts and 8-of-9 free throw attempts.
Zeigler also scored 14 points in the second half against the Gators. He recorded eight assists to lead the Vols.
Jahmai Mashack led Tennessee in rebounds with six.
Florida led the contest for 35 minutes, 22 seconds and out-rebounded Tennessee, 39-25.
Tennessee leads the all time men's basketball series versus Florida, 82-61, dating to Jan. 7, 1927. Rick Barnes is 10-5 against the Gators as Tennessee's head coach.
Tennessee awaits its first-round opponent in the NCAA Tournament.
