I wonder if this could factor in the Cards drafting/not drafting this guy if he's available? This whole CBA thing could really get nasty & last until August/September IMO.

I'm surprised there isn't more talk about this considering most mocks have the Cardinals taking him. IMO, with as play by the rules as Bidwill is, I think he just went off our draft board.

If this is the reason the Cardinals don't draft the guy but they know he is a stud, then LOL at the Cardinals front office. No wonder this team has been the laughing stock of the league for the past 40 years.

Link? How can he be added to an NFL lawsuit when he isn't yet part of the NFL?

I agree with you Jersey Girl, it doesn't seem right that he can file since he's never been part of the NFL. With that logic, I am now preparing my case against the NFL too. We should ALL file!

I heard Pat Kirwin a few days ago say an unnamed NFL GM said that they wouldn't draft Miller based on him joining the lawsuit.

If these players win, don't they get their contracts trebled? That might be a reason to pass on him. I might be wrong, but I think I heard that somewhere.

This is going to be interesting.

"The antitrust lawsuit attacks the league's policies on the draft, salary cap and free-agent restrictions such as franchise-player tags. It also asks for an injunction to block the NFL owners' lockout.

A preliminary injunction hearing is set for April 6".

As I'm sure, Michael 'the lawyer' Bidwill, would tell you: decertification; lockout, and pursuing anti-trust remedies before the courts are all part of the rules in play. I highly doubt that Miller showing solidarity with fellow players would take him off any board.

You may very well be right. He probably hopes he does not go to the Cards anyway. Mr. B plays by his own set of rules concerning right and wrong and ethics. If I were a rookie I would try to stay away from all this until after the draft is over. Any involvement by rookies is not going to help them with the people who will be paying them and who they will work for.

That is a very good question? I would think most of these young rookies do not have a clue about what is going on and are be led around by the nose by their agents and the union bosses. This could very well cost him money by not being taken so high in the draft.

It is a possibility that the owners have decided to really take a stand on this and in fact are willing to see the season go down the drain. I really do not see the players letting the season end. They have to much to lose individually and some have mouths to feed and bills to pay. In any event it looks like the quality of play will not be as good if these teams do not have a pre season. The team that all the gurus say will suffer the most is San Francisco. New Coach who wants to put in a new offense and defense and they will be starting from scratch. No one will even know the play book. Who will be the starting QB? It is very possible they will draft a QB.

Which could be appealed and this could go on and on once we get into the courts. I could see the legal bills going well into the millions for both sides. Both sides will get a better feel when the ruling is made in April on the players request for an injunction. It will take at least a week after the hearing before we will know the result of that. Then the owners could appeal if they do not like the outcome or the players could do the same. The lawyers can buy bigger houses and drive some new and bigger cars.

Mr. B has always had his own set of rules he lives by. He is from an era when the owners were owners and called the shots. He does not take kindly to bullying or pressure and could very well rule out some player who may be great otherwise. In days gone by he had his own player contracts which made us a place players did not want to come to.

You, and we, don't know the rules Mr. B lives by or how he applies them; you, and we, do not know the full extent of the role played by Michael Bidwill in day-to-day decisions, etc., etc.

To suggest that Mr B would be vindictive against Miller for simply exercising his right to support the legal endeavours of his future brethren is pure conjecture. The thought that Mr B would say to Michael, the GM, the Head Coach and the Director of Scouting: "take that guy off your board, he's a union man"... sounds silly to me, given that whether it's today or tomorrow, so to speak, they will all be dues playing members of the NFLPA.

Yes, but I don't think it's a good idea to sue your potential employers before you even enter the league. That, and wasn't Pete Kendall let go for being a clubhouse lawyer. It sounds like Miller may have the same kind of makeup. Like it, or not, it can and likely will, affect his draft status. All he did was just cost himself potential millions. Dropping from 5th to, say 10th, is still a pretty good chunk of change.
