The NFL finally reached its breaking point with Oakland Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict. For the first time in league history, it suspended a player for the remainder of the season for a dirty hit on the field. Burfict was suspended for the rest of the season for a hit on Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle.
