University Christian junior Elissa Murdock is the new Florida Times-Union Athlete of the Week for Northeast Florida high school sports for the 2024-25 season, covering the week of March 3-8 in the Jacksonville area.
The quarterback passed for 286 yards and six touchdowns, ran for 82 yards and four touchdowns and added an interception on defense in UC's flag football victories over Fernandina Beach and Impact Christian.
She placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Audrey Beyer (Tocoi Creek girls basketball), Will Duncan (Bartram Trail boys lacrosse), Jamian Jackson (Ribault boys basketball), Rayna Lawson (Oakleaf girls track), Jaylen Lewis (Mandarin boys track), Stella Lynton (Atlantic Coast softball), Clinton Mayer (Creekside boys volleyball), Landis Pickett (Providence baseball), Garrett Rica (West Nassau boys weightlifting), Erin Rizzuto (Ponte Vedra girls wrestling), Elias Twigg (Fletcher boys wrestling), Ruby Walker (Yulee girls tennis) and Daniel Zacharia (Nease boys tennis).
It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's next Athlete of the Week for the week of March 10-15, 2025.
The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to [email protected]. Deadline to receive nominations is 7 p.m. Saturdays.
This week's voting begins Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.
We reserve the right to disqualify a candidate or declare a vote "no contest" if tampering such as bots or offering to pay for voting is evident. Please respect the integrity of the vote the way these athletes respect the integrity of the game.

Northeast Florida Athlete of the Week poll for March 10-15
The senior batted .500 with two home runs and a double, helping the Knights beat Columbia, North Marion and Nease.
The senior set new season bests to win the discus (168 feet, 11 inches) and shot put (53 feet, 8 1/2 inches) at the Friday Knight Invite at Creekside.
The senior pitcher won three games in 48 hours, striking out 37 in 20 innings with two earned runs, and batting .375 with a triple.
The sophomore went 6-0 in singles and doubles in a perfect week for the Stingrays.
The senior finished with 13 goals and six assists in wins over Creekside, Palmetto and Key West.
The sophomore recorded consecutive shutouts against Riverside and Mandarin.
The sophomore scored a game-deciding conversion and a game-winning touchdown in wins over Middleburg (14-13) and Paxon (12-7).
The senior set a new season best of 2:16.36 to win the 800-meter run at the Bob Hayes Invitational.
The senior won both No. 1 singles and doubles to lead the Blue Devils past Wolfson.
