El Paso Times will honor high school athletes this year every week that you, the readers, help determine. We will take weekly nominations and release a list of finalists for the El Paso Children's Hospital High School Athlete of the Week at 7 a.m. each Tuesday.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close at 3 p.m. each Thursday, and the winners will be announced Friday.

Nominations can be submitted through email at [email protected] or by contacting Felix Chavez through social media on X.

Here are this week's nominations:

  • Andrea Salcedo, Del Valle softball. She went 2-for-3 with a home run vs. Parkland and for the year has 13 homers and 56 RBI.
  • Anthony Arango, Bel Air boys soccer. He scored a goal in each team's playoff wins vs. Wichita Falls Memorial and Argyle.
  • Jorell Castillo, Americas boys soccer. Castillo scored a goal and assisted in two playoff wins last week.
  • Jaeda Quinones, Montwood softball. In two games last week, she had five hits and six RBI.
  • Johan Camacho, Bowie baseball. In the win against Irvin, as a pitcher, he struck out 17 batters, and at the plate, he drove in three runs with a homer in the 12-2 win.
  • Kyle LaBranche, Coronado baseball. In 14-2 win vs. Socorro, he pitched five innings, allowed four hits and zero earned runs in earning the win.
  • Joselyn Echavarria, Eastwood softball. Against Pebble Hills, she hit a grand slam homer and drove in five runs. Against Montwood, she had two hits.
  • Natalie Lewis, Coronado golf. Lewis won the District 1-6A girls golf title with a two-round total 155.
