The winner of last week’s Baseball Player of the Week poll was Fairhaven’s Aidan Smith. He had more than 8,000 votes (48%) to receive the honor.

Smith homered in his first varsity at bat in a loss to Nauset. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI and stolen base.

The winner of the Preseason Baseball Player of the Year poll was Wareham’s John Varden.

Each week during the regular season, we will highlight the top performances.

Here’s your chance to vote for the top high school baseball performance from the past week.

Garret Butler, Apponequet​


In 2 games, Butler went a combined 4-for-7 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs.

Lucas Tremblay, Apponequet​


In a loss to Somerset Berkley, Tremblay went 3-for-4 with a double.

Gabe Zuber, Apponequet​


In addition to pitching the first four innings against Old Rochester and allowing 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 8, Zuber went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Matt Burt, Bishop Stang​


Burt went a combined 5-for-7 with 5 RBIs and 2 runs scored in a pair of games.

Landon Cardoza, Bishop Stang​


Cardoza pitched 6 innings, allowing 5 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and no walks while striking out 9 in a win over Bishop Feehan.

Amir Cartagena, Bishop Stang​


In 2 games, Cartagena went a combined 4-for-7 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Markus Andrews, Dartmouth​


Andrews had multiple hits against both Medway and New Bedford.

Tom Quinn, Dartmouth​


Quinn went 1-for-2 with 2 walks and a home run in a win over Medway.

Ian Rego, Dartmouth​


Rego allowed just 3 hits while striking out 11 over 4 ⅔ innings in a win over New Bedford.

Lucas daCosta, Fairhaven​


In 2 games, daCosta went a combined 4-for-7 with a walk, RBI and 3 runs scored. He also pitched 6 innings against Case, allowing 2 unearned runs with 1 walk while striking out 6.

Ryan Pires, Fairhaven​


Pires pitched 4 ⅔ innings, allowing one unearned run on 4 hits and 1 walk with 6 strikeouts as Fairhaven beat Bourne for its first win.

Kyle Soares, Fairhaven​


In 2 games, Soares had a combined 3 hits and 1 RBI.

Jack Anderson, GNB Voc-Tech​


Anderson pitched 5 ⅔ innings in a win over Dighton-Rehoboth. He also had 3 RBIs with a double and sac fly.

Boston Bettencourt, GNB Voc-Tech​


In a pair of games against Dighton-Rehoboth and Somerset Berkley, Bettencourt had a combined 4 hits, 3 RBIs and 3 stolen bases.

Dorian Fortes, GNB Voc-Tech​


Fortes pitched a complete-game win over Somerset Berkley, allowing 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 9. He also had 3 hits, including a double and an RBI. In a win over D-R, Fortes contributed 2 hits.

Keysson De la Cruz, New Bedford​


In a loss to Dartmouth, De la Cruz had his first varsity hit, a 2-run single.

Kris Woods, New Bedford​


Woods had 2 hits, an RBI and run scored in a loss to Falmouth.

Marc Donati, Old Colony​


Donati struck out 14 while allowing 2 hits in a complete-game shutout over GNB Voc-Tech. In a loss to Diman, he went 1-for-2 with a walk, run scored and RBI.

Chase LaFountain, Old Colony​


In addition to pitching 4 innings against Diman, LaFountain went 3-for-3 with a double, run scored and 2 RBIs.

Aiden Eagle, Old Rochester​


Eagle went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored against Seekonk.
