Nearly every SouthCoast baseball team played at least one game last week in the first full week of the spring sports season.
Each week during the regular season, we will highlight the top performances.
Here’s your chance to vote for the top high school performance from SouthCoast baseball players from the past week.
Editor’s note: Voting will end at 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 13.
In a win over Arlington Catholic, Burt pitched six innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out eight for Stang (3-0, 2-0 CCL). He also went 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. In a win over Nauset, Burt was 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Cartagena’s first hit this season was a home run in Stang’s win over Nauset. He went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He also had two hits and two RBIs against Arlington Catholic.
In his first varsity at bat, Guenette hit a home run against Nauset. He finished with two RBIs in the game.
In three wins, Taylor had a combined four hits, including a three-run home run. He also scored a combined six runs.
Beauparland had four hits in Dartmouth’s win over Case.
Not only did Jason record three hits against Case, he also pitched three innings in relief.

Against Nauset, daCosta was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.
Smith homered in his first varsity at bat in a loss to Nauset. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI and stolen base.
Against Oliver Ames, Castelo pitched the last three innings, allowing two hits while striking out three and walking one.
Sharples went the first four innings, giving up two earned runs while allowing four hits in a win over Oliver Ames. He struck out three and walked two. Sharples had an RBI single as well.
In a win over Oliver Ames, Roderiques went 2-for-3 with a double, single and walk. He also scored two times. He added a hit against Barnstable.
In a loss to Bristol-Plymouth, LaFountain pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six.
Bean went 3-for-3 with two RBIs in a win over Wareham.
Wesoly went 2-for-4 with an RBI in addition to pitching 3 ⅓ innings, allowing no hits with five strikeouts as ORR beat Wareham.

In a win over Arlington Catholic, Burt pitched six innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out eight for Stang (3-0, 2-0 CCL). He also went 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. In a win over Nauset, Burt was 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Amir Cartagena, Bishop Stang
Cartagena’s first hit this season was a home run in Stang’s win over Nauset. He went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He also had two hits and two RBIs against Arlington Catholic.
Tommy Guenette, Bishop Stang
In his first varsity at bat, Guenette hit a home run against Nauset. He finished with two RBIs in the game.
Drew Taylor, Bishop Stang
In three wins, Taylor had a combined four hits, including a three-run home run. He also scored a combined six runs.
Brady Beauparland, Dartmouth
Beauparland had four hits in Dartmouth’s win over Case.
Ethan Jason, Dartmouth
Not only did Jason record three hits against Case, he also pitched three innings in relief.

Lucas daCosta, Fairhaven
Against Nauset, daCosta was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.
Aiden Smith, Fairhaven
Smith homered in his first varsity at bat in a loss to Nauset. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI and stolen base.
Joe Castelo, New Bedford
Against Oliver Ames, Castelo pitched the last three innings, allowing two hits while striking out three and walking one.
Brent Sharples, New Bedford
Sharples went the first four innings, giving up two earned runs while allowing four hits in a win over Oliver Ames. He struck out three and walked two. Sharples had an RBI single as well.
Trevor Roderiques, New Bedford
In a win over Oliver Ames, Roderiques went 2-for-3 with a double, single and walk. He also scored two times. He added a hit against Barnstable.
Chase LaFountain, Old Colony
In a loss to Bristol-Plymouth, LaFountain pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six.
Malcolm Bean, Old Rochester
Bean went 3-for-3 with two RBIs in a win over Wareham.
Ben Wesoly, Old Rochester
Wesoly went 2-for-4 with an RBI in addition to pitching 3 ⅓ innings, allowing no hits with five strikeouts as ORR beat Wareham.
