We are days away from the postseason for Lafayette Parish and its surrounding areas as the regular season for most of spring sports are coming to an end.
With the LHSAA Baseball and Softball playoff pairings coming out on April 15-16, teams in the past week have been playing some non-district foes in hopes to prepare for the playoffs. Outside of the diamond, there have been track meets galore featuring some of the fastest athletes hailing from the 337.
This week's poll includes athletes from the following sports: softball, baseball, and track and field. The poll can be found at the bottom of the story and closes on Friday.
Here are the candidates for Athlete of the Week for April 7-13 (athletes listed in alphabetical order):
In the Screaming Eagles’ matchup against Gueydan on April 8, Boudreaux had one of her best games to date. The catcher ended the game with her first home run of the season helping her team win 16-4.
The Rebels were swinging for victory in their non-district matchup against Sulpur on April 11. Purser had one of the team’s hottest bats, racking up four RBIs, two hits and a run as Teurlings beat the Golden Tors 13-3.
The Panthers had their hands full on April 11 as they took on a fellow highly ranked Division III team in Erath. On the mound for them was Ruskoski and the senior pitcher did all he could to ensure his team’s 4-1 victory over the Bobcats.
