It's time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.
Your vote will determine who will be the Faber Builders Boys Athlete of the Week for March 10-16. The players' credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Wednesday morning.
All athletes who play on Section V boys athletic teams are eligible to be nominated.
Now, let's meet the candidates. And if the poll at the bottom of the page doesn't load, please click here.
The Wayne basketball star scored a Far West Regional tournament high 31 points in the Eagles' win over Williamsville South to return to the NYS final four.
Fairport's bowling star led Section V's Division I composite team to first place at states with a high-series of 1,358 through six games.
The World of Inquiry basketball star has had a breakout postseason since moving up from junior varsity. The eighth-grader scored 21 points on six 3-pointers in the Class B crossover final against East Rochester, then 15 points in the Griffins' regional win over Akron to advance to the state final four for the first time in school history.
Greece Athena advanced to the state final four for the first time in 10 years, but they would not have won regionals without a 75-72 triple overtime win over Penfield in the Class AA crossover final Tuesday, March 11, when Fowlks' buzzer-beating 3-pointer sent the game into its first overtime period. He also blocked the potential game-winning shot against Health Sciences in Athena's 56-55 regional win.
The Spencerport bowling star led Section V's Division I composite team to a gold medal with a tournament high-game 280 at states. Taccone also rolled the fourth highest series (1,412) for Section V champion Spencerport during the NYS Division I team tournament.
The Honeoye basketball star scored 26 points in the Bulldogs' thrilling 64-60 win over Westfield in regionals to advance to the program's first state final four.
Pittsford forward had the team's only goal in a loss to West Genesee in the NYSPHSAA Division I semifinal on Saturday.
