Here are this week's nominees for The Arizona Republic's boys and girls athletes of the week, sponsored by Diamond Kitchen & Bath. Nominees are based on performances in AIA-sanctioned sports. Vote for the top selection in each of our polls below. Voting will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and winners will be announced the next day on azcentral.com and in The Arizona Republic on Friday. Brenna Figueroa, Sahuarita, softball, Sr.: She went 14 for 27 with 18 RBIs, hitting five home runs and three doubles, as the Mustangs beat Nogales, Safford, Phoenix Sunnyslope, Show Low, Queen Creek Crimson, Phoenix Bourgade Catholic, Eloy Santa Cruz Valley and Joseph City by a combined score of 83-10 to win the Gracie Haught Classic last week in Payson.
Addysan Prassas, Peoria Liberty, track and field, Jr.: She ran 11.68 seconds to win the 100 meters at the Nike Chandler Rotary Invitational on Saturday, setting a new state-leading time in the event and moving into the top 10 all-time in state history.
Sofia Boonzaaijer, Glendale Prep Academy, track and field, Sr.: She threw 146 feet, 5 inches to win the discus at the Nike Chandler Rotary Invitational on Saturday, setting a new state lead in the event.

Brock Cross, Lake Havasu City, baseball, Sr.: At the plate, he went 8 for 16 with nine RBIs, hitting two home runs and two doubles, also going 1-0 on the mound with six strikeouts and no hits allowed in three innings pitched, as the Knights went 4-1 against Phoenix Sunnyslope, Oklahoma’s Santa Fe South, Putnam City, Colorado’s Chaparral and Bullhead City Mohave last week.
Domonick Ruiz, Tempe Corona del Sol, track and field, Sr.: He went 23 feet, 2 inches in the long jump to win the Nike Chandler Rotary Invitational on Saturday, tying the state lead in the event.
Symond Martin, Page, track and field, Jr.: He set two new state leads in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters at the Nike Chandler Rotary Invitational on Saturday, running 4:12.91 to place fifth in the 1,600 and 9:00.33 to win the 3,200.
