Warrants issued, again, for Randy Quaid, wife
April 13, 2010
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP)

Randy Quaid and his wife are once again wanted by authorities.

The couple failed to show up for a court appearance in Santa Barbara on Monday on charges they defrauded an innkeeper. Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter says they also didn't show up when their case was again called on Tuesday.

Arrest warrants have been repeatedly sought and later quashed for the Quaids, who were charged last year with failing to pay a $10,000 hotel bill.

They pleaded not guilty in December and were released on $40,000 bail. Carter says that bail has now been forfeited.

Authorities jail, release Randy Quaid, his wife

Actor Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, were briefly jailed Monday in California after showing up to court two weeks late for a criminal case, authorities said.

The couple were released after posting $100,000 bail each and were told to return for a court hearing today, the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

The couple have repeatedly failed to show up for hearings in a felony case alleging they defrauded an inn out of more than $10,000. They also have been charged with burglary and conspiracy and have pleaded not guilty.

Randy Quaid is best known for supporting roles in films such as "Independence Day" and "National Lampoon's Vacation." He is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid .

WTH ?!

Quaid, wife seek refuge in Canada after arrest
Associated Press
October 23, 2010

VANCOUVER - Actor Randy Quaid and his wife told Canada's immigration board Friday they are seeking refuge in Canada because they are being persecuted in the United States, after they were arrested on U.S. warrants related to vandalism charges. The pair were arrested on Thursday afternoon in a shopping area of an affluent Vancouver neighborhood.

A U.S. judge issued arrest warrants Monday for the couple after they failed to show up at a California court hearing stemming from their arrests last month on suspicion of illegally squatting at a home.

Quaid and his wife face felony vandalism charges after more than $5,000 in damage was found in a guest house of a Montecito, California home they had previously owned.

Wow. Kinda crazy. They originally forfeited $40,000 in bail money when they could have just paid the $10k. And then they both posted $100k the second time.

Either fight the good fight or pay up. Don't be stupid.

Actor Randy Quaid, Wife Held in Vermont on Fugitive Charges

http://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertain...urt-Face-Charge--331964431.html#ixzz3oRU0Cp00

Actor Randy Quaid, recognizable for his movie roles including as a heroic kamikaze pilot in the blockbuster action film "Independence Day," is in a Vermont jail held on $500,000 bail.

Quaid and his wife, Evi, who is also jailed in Vermont with a high bail amount, are accused of being fugitives from justice in California after being charged with felony vandalism there.

Friday evening, the Quaids were detained at the border of Canada and Vermont while trying to re-enter the United States after Canadian officials granted Evi Quaid citizenship but denied Randy Quaid permanent residence and said he would be deported.

They're wanted in Santa Barbara, California, to face felony charges filed in 2010 after they were found squatting in a guesthouse of a home they previously owned.

Court papers said the Quaids damaged or destroyed furniture, a fireplace and a mirror in the guesthouse. They're charged with occupying the property illegally and failure to appear for court dates. Evi Quaid also is charged with impeding Santa Barbara sheriff's deputies.
