Both teams on a back to back but the Suns at home tonight.

As usual the Suns will have to really get on the boards tonight. They need Zarko, Amare, and Shawn to keep the Warriors from getting the easy putbacks.
I hope they stay patient on offense, set good screens, and attack the basket. I hope JJ can put together back to back solid games.

The Suns only have three 2-game winning streaks and one 3-game streak all season. :(
Can they start another one tonight?

Oh yea-

Should be a fun game to watch / listen to.

The key will be the Suns defense. Last night the Warriors shot the lights out, 52.4% including 10 of 13 for 3. Cliff Robinson went 7 of 8 for 3. Their season average is 33.3% but they shot 78%!

Most people have missed the fact that Dampier is having a very good year: 11.2 ppg on 50.6%, 11.1 rpg, 1.6 blocks per game.

when is the last time the suns were ahead of any team by 20 points?

a bit premature, but have they turned a corner? at least for a game and a half, they rock....

Suns are playing real well. Hate to nit pick but wish Amare had more then 2 rebounds.

JJ is playing great ball. 7 assists to go with his 17pts. He's really turning up his game since the Marbs trade.

The Suns are killing the Warriors on the boards. If Amare has 12 or 2 doesn't really matter as long as they are killing one of the better rebounding teams on the boards.

Warriors are missing some of their better rebounders though. Cliff and Dunleavy in the front court? Thats hardly a menacing rebounding duo.

Suns only up 10 now. :(

Who's missing? Both Foyle and Dampier have been playing, and they're the best rebounders. Troy Murphy obviously isn't, but he shouldn't count anyway since he's barely played all season.

Great Win. They really worked on defense and the boards.

JJ is the man now and he is not being so shy. I like it the guy has such amazing talent and is very smooth.

Amare can score on anyone if he stays in control.

Go Suns.

Foyle has played 2 games all season and is averaging 1.5 rebounds

Good job though by the Suns in general on the boards. Suppose it don't really matter who gets them, as long as someone gets them.

Good win. Let's beat the Lakers now.

Impressive Game

I did not watch the game, but the people who were there raved about how well the Suns played. Certainly the box score was very impressive:

The Suns shot 56.3% (75% for 3) to only 40.5% (27.3% for 3) by the Warriors.

The Suns outrebounded the Warriors 38 to 29.

The Suns had 22 assists to only 14 by the Warriors.

The Suns blocked 7 shots to only 3 by the Warriors.

However, there were some areas that were less positive.

The Suns made 20 turnovers to only 9 by the Warriors.

The Suns had only 20 foul shots to 30 by the Warriors. The Warriors were 87.7% on foul shots to only 78% for the Suns.

The Suns had defensive problems in the point. Three guys had minutes there: Voskuhl had 4 fouls in 22 minutes, White had 4 fouls in 10 minutes, and Carbakaapa had 4 fouls in 24 minutes.

The Suns found a novel way to keep the Warriors from getting many rebounds - they made their shots! But don't forget that Dampier was the only big body they had - Murphy and Cardinal are out and Foyle, fresh off the IL, apparently isn't quite ready to go yet.

I do like this plan of playing teams with their big men injured.

I like the plan shooting 60% from the field and 70+% from behind the arc. Thats good coaching :p

One of the more significant things I noticed was that Zarko was going to the boards pretty well... not exactly banging with Dampier but he was slipping inside from the wing and getting his share in crowds. Not sure of the number but I think he got 8 rbs. Hopefully a harbinger of things to come...

Another note, Richardson didn't kill us with his drives like the last game... I have to confess I didn't pay much attention to him during the game so I didn't see who was defending him. Presumeably it was JJ... in which case more kudos to him. The only two times I noticed Richardson were when Eisley switched onto him and he went right to the box...

Zarko had 8 rebounds, which I think is his NBA high. Part of it was that he was at the #5 slot part of the time and thus closer to the basket. In any case, rebounding will be a big part of whether Zarko gets his 20+ minutes.
