In Sunday’s win over Golden State, the Houston Rockets were +26 in 29 minutes played by second-year guard/forward Amen Thompson, and Warriors superstar Steph Curry had just 3 points on 1-of-10 shooting (10.0%).
It was the lowest-scoring game of Curry's career when playing at least 30 minutes. In postgame comments, the 11-time All-Star guard, four-time NBA champion, and two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) had glowing words of praise for Thompson’s defense and overall level of play.
Now, on his own podcast, longtime defensive ace Draymond Green is largely echoing Curry’s assessment. Via The Draymond Green Show:
With Thompson in a featured, starting role — and perhaps making a case for All-Defensive First Team honors — Houston (52-27) has now beaten Golden State (46-32) in two of their last three meetings. Green credited Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Jabari Smith Jr., and Alperen Sengun with strong play during Sunday's victory, as well.
Nonetheless, based largely on previous championship experience, the Warriors' Green still likes his team's chances in a potential playoff rematch.
“If this is a team we see in the playoffs, I like the matchup,” said Green, who attributed some of Golden State’s Sunday performance to cumulative fatigue. “We’ve got experience in the playoffs. I love our chances if we see this team in the playoffs, but they do play us tough.”

Amen Thompson, I’ve been a fan of him. He’s so athletic and he’s just getting more and more confident, he’s starting to see more pictures develop. He’s really the key to that team.
