Was last weeks Defensive performance a fluke? We should have a great defense!

I have heard that we didn't use a lot of the playbook on defense and that we will unleash alot more stuff this weekend.

I am hoping that because there were less blitz packages and less agressive play that our players lost their edge and agressiveness and that's why they looked so bad.

I am thinking it was a fluke. We had one of the best defenses last year, especially when Berry was healthy. We were missing Dansby who, I guess will be starting this game. Hopefully he'll stay healthy and be productive, I'm still a little doubtful of that, but even without him we should be pretty good.

We have Rolle out there now who missed all of last year and Berry starting, Also we got Clancy, Watson & Lewis now as tackles, and Russel Davis who we lost is third string on his team so that should be upgraded. We should also have added depth in the linebacker core with Pace & Hayes healther. We were a top 10 defensive team last year without these guys, we should be even better this year!

Actually, the D played better the LAST half of the season when Berry was hurt. They particularly played better against the run. I'm starting to think maybe Berry should be a pass rush specialist and Smith should play run downs.

Hmmm...you may be on to something.

I also think that Berry was not quite 100% coming back from his knee-sprain. He had about 1 week of practice and still had some rust, for sure. Smith, who is mobile, was just a half step outside of Berry's grasp many times. I expect Hasselback to have a closer encounter with the B-train.
