Forget early season. Forget December or January when all the pros are in town. The jam on the North Shore is late season around March and April. Clean and fun, warm and inviting, it really is the magic time of year. It might be the best place on the planet to be right now. Seriously.

Which brings us to the latest YouTube drop from Mason Ho. Pushing the age demographic forward, the stars of the cut are a 53-year-old Kelly Slater, who looks like he's having a hell of a lot of fun just going surfing, and Mason's 67-year-old dad, Michael, aka Pops.

Indulging themselves on roll-ins at V-Land, Kelly, Mase and Pops put on a clinic of how to fade the takeoff, cruise the deep mid section and setup for perfect, running sandbar barrels on the inside. For over 30 years we've had the good fortune to watch Kelly surf and compete around the world, but as he settles into this next phase, it's sporadic, inspired glimpses of the man in action that fans will be discussing and dissecting. So, my assessment, after three decades of chasing titles, if one was looking to put more fun in their surfing, who would you paddle out with in Hawaii? Mason and Michael Ho are, of course, at the top of that list. Let the good times roll, old guys rule!
