Jets might have had a worse OL than us last year. Hunter is garbage.

How anyone can use the term "garbage" to describe a professional athlete, no matter how proficient, is beyond me.

Hyperbole. We all use it from time to time. Like when I say I still believe in Kolb, that is hyperbole. (And I believed in McCown for just about forever!)

Anthony Clement was garbage as a OT in the NFL, and as an athlete.

I have no problem using that in an honest way like I just did, or an over dramatization of a player who does not play at the level needed at the NFL level. Even if he is a great athlete (and Clement is not), we are talking relative to NFL talent levels.

Furthermore, I don't forget what happened at this time last year. This is a business. We pay for this to happen. Thus it is our product, and I will slam these athletes with insults, and call them what I want. It is the product I pay for, and I will do as I please with it.

Not to mention when you are on a message board, it is "bar room talk". Football players are called garbage everyday, and it is taken in stride because people realize it is said in relative terms.

So, while I agree you are right, it seems a little bit much to call out people for such things. Fair game none the less.

But, I could say "Wayne Hunter is garbage at long division" and that could in fact be true.

Yes... Wayne Hunter is probably a better right tackle than I am or Rugby is, but in comparison to THE OTHER TACKLES AROUND THE NFL? He's garbage. I'm sorry if this was confusing to you.

Says you!

My three cone drill is ridiculous, I got long arms, a good punch, and a quick first step.

Plus I got a thumb to the eye maneuver that Rick Flair himself would be proud of.

Yeah, me too. If someone ever tries to tackle my couch they're going to have to go through me and that's just not happening.

8.5 sacks and 11 penalties last year will likely put him at or near the top in both categories--which is, of course, the bottom.

Dude was a 3rd round pick by the Seahawks and never started a game for them. Cut after 2 seasons. 2007--his 7th year in the NFL--was his first as a starter. And now New York is eager to unload his $3 million + salary in the second year of the deal.

Garbage.

It was term, not the point. Sorry, if this was confusing to you.

This FA lineman's a bum. That FA's a bum. We need to draft more offensive linemen and more in the early rounds........

Meanwhile these 5 guys ranked among the best offensive lines in the NFL when adding sacks and QB hits (24 sacks 55 hits) in 2011.

David Stewart RT 4th round
Jake Scott RG 5th round
Eugene Amano C 7th round
Leroy Harris LG 4th round
Michael Roos LT 2nd round

What do they have that our line doesn't have? 31 years combined playing for the Tennessee Titans. 23 years as starters. What do we have that they don't have? Russ Grimm.

Not totally fair. I could take a dump and if the Cards drafted it, I wouldn't blame Grimm for failing to make it an elite LT. FWIW, I think he's done wonders in bringing Lyle along from UDFA to a solid starting center.

That's no big deal. Sendlein was an excellent Center in college just overlooked by NFL teams. And there are still those who think Sendlein needs to be replaced.

Grimm's lines have been weak every year no matter who started. Tennessee has dumps as you call them on their line and they aren't consistently bad making the same mistakes over and over.

Arizona has had 3 different Left Tackles, 3 different Left Guards, two different Centers, two different Right Guards, and 3 different RTs in just 5 seasons and Grimm hasn't gotten it right yet.

Grimm doesn't make those personnel decisions. So is personnel setting him up to fail or is he not doing his job? Tennessee also has consistency on their line, something we don't have thanks to aging FA's, bad draft picks, and our best OL consistently showing up to work overweight. Not saying Grimm is doing a good job, but I wonder if anyone could do a good job under these circumstances.

Baloney. Grimm lobbied hard for Levi Brown and called Keith a 1st-round talent, right off the top of my head. IMO, these are the guys he's wanted to bring in, and it hasn't worked.

I don't believe that with the relationship CKW and Grimm have that Whisenhunt simply picks the offensive linemen all by himself and then tells Grimm to make it work. On the contrary I would bet that Grimm has significant input into the decisions concerning personell for the Cards offensive line.

4 of the five guys who started the two 2009 playoff games on our offensive line are still on the team but only one is playing the same position. Grimm also has to be at least partly at fault for that.

But the main reason I disagree with you that it is the players is that our linemen keep making the same exact mistakes they have for the past 5 seasons. Doesn't matter if it is Brown or Brandon or Bridges or Gandy.
