The season has been a success and let's hope it keeps going for awhile. For next year, let's hope they sign or trade for a #2,#3 starter.

I think Micah Owings might be able to grow into a #3 guy next year, and somewhere down the road be a borderline #2 guy.

They need to resign Hudson, and considering their financial situation, I doubt they'll do a Gil Meche type signing.

Just getting a healthy Big Unit back could take care of that need. You always want more pitching but with the lack of pitching league wide, you'd have to give up the farm to get a decent pitcher (or spend a small fortune in FA)

Thats a nice dream, but I'm assuming RJ is done (though I hope he's not, Im not expecting anything from him).

"The Mad Scientist" has gotten the D'backs into the post-season. Congratulations to Bob Melvin, the coaches and the players.

Brian Webb winning his 18th while not having his best stuff.

Who's that? Brandon's little brother?

:D

(we can all smile, we're in the playoffs baby!)

it's really weird to think if they win tomorrow, they clinch home-field throughout the NL playoffs... weird... this team.

weird... but great. Bring on the playoffs! Who knows what's gonna happen this year!

While I doubt it will feel as good as crushing the Yankee dynasty, I do hope the Dbacks can win the division for a Cubs match-up so they can prolong their suffering.

nothing the D-backs EVER do will be 1/10 as incredible as winning that Yankee series. It's the greatest world series in the last half-century.

that being said, if we're going to lose, I could handle it best if it was the Cubs. They've always been my second favorite team and being a Cardinals fan, I feel their unbelievable pain. Not to mention, they're an incredibly entertaining trainwreck waiting to happen, making any series the Backs aren't in, imminently watchable for a guy who has baseball as his third favorite sport.

Congrats to Josh Byrnes, Ken Kendrick, Jeff Moorad, Bob Melvin, all the players, and everyone in the DBack organization. For how much grief they got post-Colangelo, those guys got the 111 loss Diamondbacks team to a place no Arizona pro sports team ever dreamed of - a potential dynasty. Can't wait for the next decade and the next month.

F- the Cubs. I'm tired of their fans, who despite their century of despair act like they're God's chosen baseball team. Get of Chicago man, it's messing with your head.

And you're underrating the 1991 World Series. While not comparable to 2001 due to 9/11, the games in themselves were unmatched,

I don't know what Cub fans you're hanging out with, but the entire crew i'm working with is nothing like what you describe above... neither were any of the people i went to Wrigley with.

I don't think I am. The 1991 Series was FANTASTIC. I'm not saying it wasn't, but it just didn't have such ridiculous moments such as the back to back BK "classics", nor did it have a Game 7 that had Clemens, Schilling, Johnson and Rivera all pitch in, while having the greatest closer of all time get roasted to end the greatest dynasty seen in 40 years. There sheer stra-power, dramatic momentum swings, 9/11 and probably one of the allt-ime Game 7s, if not the all-time Game 7 with arguably the four best pitchers of the modern era all pitching in one game tops Puckett's walk off Game 6/Jack Morris' sterling performance in Game 7. That's not to say the Twins-Braves series wasn't a classic... I just don't think it lived up to Backs dethroning of the Yankee dynasty.

MLB playoff games are almost always at night because they want to get ratings. The only daytime games will be on the weekend
No, I remember watching the MLB playoffs at school every year, but it's mostly the AL games so the DBacks should be on at night.

With the Red Sox and the Yankees in the mix, the AL is going to get the prime time slots. I'm guessing that the D'backs are going to be playing in the afternoon more often than not.

Actually I could see them playing either the Pads or DBacks as the late games. I'd doubt they'd want either Yanks or Sox with a 10:00pm EST start time when it'll only be 7:00 on the westcoast.

I am all about getting tix tomorrow.

I am really hoping the D'Backs and Phillies don't play each other in the first round. That would totally suck, for me anyway!

Just to emphasize the focus that the AL is getting. Also from mlb.com

The National League Championship Series, to be broadcast by TBS, is scheduled to start on Thursday, October 11th, with the American League Championship Series beginning the following day, Friday, October 12th on FOX. Each series will continue to follow a 2-3-2 format.

So the NLCS is on cable and the ALCS is on broadcast television.

WOOHOO!!! Congrats to the D'backs. I am so excited for them especially since at the all-star break I had them going nowhere.

I loved watching the celebrations - Melvin looked like he was gonna cry. Livo was funny with his speech. You could see the dynamics amongst all the players; TC, Byrnes and Orlando are very tight. You can see that Chris Young seems to have a special bond with TC also.

Good stuff!

Okay, what will the Diamondbacks rotation be? I think it will go:
Game 1:Webb
Game 2:Davis
Game 3:Livan
Game 4:Dwings
Game 5:Webb

I was going to say, "well done." But now I am not sure what is appropriate.

Easy dude... Don't push it. Questioning what is or is not board-appropriate is akin to spamming... Spamming is prohibited. Again, you've been warned.
